**Overview**:
Manage the strategic sourcing of assigned products (i.e., non-principal managed suppliers). Manage the procurement team and associated processes in a professional manner, ensuring the Protea brand is associated with reputable suppliers and that business is conducted in a transparent and ethical manner.

**Qualifications**:
University / Postgraduate (Masters Degree) in supply chain management. A Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply qualification (CIPS), would be an added advantage.

**Experience**:
General Experience: Wide and deep experience providing expert competence (Over 10 years to 15 years).
Managerial Experience: Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short / medium timescales within the overall policy framework. (Over 6 years to 10 years)

**Duties**:
Buying: Oversee the identification and selection of suppliers and negotiations with them on product selection, availability and price for a large category of products.
Supplier & Internal Customer Management: Manage relationships with strategic suppliers and internal customers and act as a business partner to them. Likely to involve using large account teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
Contract Management: Manage the delivery of a major part of the organization's contract management program while taking personal responsibility for a limited number of missioncritical contracts.
Processes and Procedure Development & Implementation: Develop functional or operational processes and procedures and help develop frameworks for area of responsibility or department. Take responsibility for creating underlying procedures and monitoring their implementation.
Procurement : Manage a portfolio of major procurement programs in line with overall procurement strategy.
Building Capability: Implement the formal development framework for a team, with guidance from senior colleagues. Provide informal coaching to others throughout the organization in area of expertise.
Leadership and Direction: Identify and communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the business area or department; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision and values; motivate people to commit to these and to doing extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.
Performance Management: Manage and report on performance within the department or area of responsibility; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold them accountable for achieving these; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives.

**TASKS**

Purchasing or sourcing in alignment to the relevant SBS strategy.
Collaborate with Commercial Manager to successfully onboard and manage new suppliers/principals.
Ensure that orders are placed timeously within scope/parameters of the requirements and strategy Check logic on orders to be placed versus the system prompt Ensure that the team understand the stock on hand and inventory.
- Appropriate products at best cost:_
- Find best product solutions to client requirements, develop and implement efficient sourcing plans and secure profitable deals.
- Determines product pricing by utilising market research data; reviewing production and sales costs; anticipating volume; costing special and customising orders.
- Assesses market competition by comparing the company’s product to competitors’ offerings.
- Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking.
- Analyse and calculate costs of procurement and suggest methods to decrease expenditure
- Optimise sourcing procedures to attain maximum efficiency.
- Market Growth.
- Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements, appraising new product ideas and / or product changes.
- Brings new products to market by analysing proposed product requirements, preparing ROI analysis, establishing time schedules for market introduction.
- Introduces and markets new products by developing time integrated plans with the commercial, marketing and production teams.
- Reliable and sustainable suppliers / principles and supply.
- Suppliers/principles that fit the product portfolio of Protea Chemicals.
- Reliable, trustworthy suppliers/principals.
- Develop and manage suppliers, ensure contracts and agreements are executed.
- Maintain constructive relations with key suppliers / principles to guarantee reliable supply of products.
- Prevent / mitigate material availability /supply / supply risk.
- Research and anticipate shifts in the supplier/supply trends that could impact supply
- Timeous action to prevent, mitigate, minimise risk from supplier nonperformance or product/service non
- availability.
