**Purpose**
- On a dayshift basis, attend to all Mechanical Maintenance activities on the Morgan Mill in order to ensure ultimate plant availability from a mechanical point of view and comply with S.H.E. and quality standards.
- Perform first line Supervisory function and as and when required act as Mechanical Foreman

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Supervise and lead his/her mechanical team of artisans
- Do mechanical standby and attend to call outs as required
- Perform daily plant inspections to ensure that equipment and plant are in good condition
- At all times work toward improving and maintaining a high standard of plant and equipment availability and participate in continuous improvement activities
- Ensure a clean and organized mechanical work environment and at all times ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures
- Develop, plan and implement predictive and preventative maintenance schedules and cards and ensure that these maintenance activities are timeously executed to ensure a reliable plant
- Maintain and refurbish mechanical equipment and ensure that spares and standby equipment are always available
- Identify mechanical problems on the plant and find permanent solutions to restore equipment back to reliable service
- Plan, execute and supervise daily mechanical work activities and ensure that these activities are of the highest quality possible
- Set standards and control work quality and tempo
- Setup and maintain a list of critical plant spares and ensure that these are available
- Organize stock and consumables items needed on the plant
- Improve mechanical systems
- Record and log all mechanical activities
- Maintain a mechanical information system and a log of all mechanical work performed
- Ensure that all mechanical drawings are up to date and in line with any changes made on the plant**Inherent Requirements**

**Experience & Qualification Requirements**:

- Standard 10 / Grade 12, Math’s & Science
- National Certificate Mechanical Engineering - N4
- Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) - Fitter
- Minimum 65% Amatrol

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Minimum 5 years’ experience as Fitter
- Minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience
- Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Above average technical skills.
- Good knowledge and experience on lubrication and hydraulic systems, gearboxes, drive-shafts and spindles
- Excellent fault-finding skills.
- Ability to perform under pressure.
- Ability to work under little or no supervision.
- Ability to work in team.
- Certificate/ Course in Hydraulics
- High level of accuracy/ competency with refurbishing/ rebuild of gearbox and heavy equipment

**What Qualification**
- Mechanical Engineering & Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) - Fitter
