Role purpose: To design, test, implement, maintain and control relevant databases to ensure accurate installation and configuration of database and software to maintain a client centric and secure database environment.

Client: Financial Services company based in Sandton.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Identify, control and escalate potential risks which may lead to increased costs
- Manage costs or expenses within approved budget to achieve cost efficiencies
- Deliver against operational and cost targets
- Prioritise resource allocation to minimise and reduce wastage
- Meet or exceed service delivery targets in support of operational objectives
- Ensure that service delivery is accurate, timeous and of a high standard
- Build professional long-term relationships with customers based on trust that builds the brand
- Offer appropriate solutions to meet customer needs
- Provide customers with relevant information to keep them informed of products and service options
- Ensure compliance is adopted in terms of systems and procedures
- Improve business decisions by providing accurate and reliable business intelligence (information) together with analysing trends and data
- Provide regular reports on delivery of services against agreed service level agreements and in terms of overall customer targets
- Provide support in development and implementation of database backup and recovery to mitigate risk of data loss
- Support the maintenance of the database backup and recovery in line with strategic plan and activities Leverage existing technology to build a resilient database system and protect the data from disaster risks
- Leveraging existing technology to build a scalable
- database to cover performance issues
- Conduct database performance monitoring and tuning to ensure database availability at all times
- Understand the state of the system and the trends of system utilization over time to eliminate performance bottlenecks
- Conduct design, testing, implementation, maintenance and control of the relevant databases across multiple platforms and technologies and computing environments
- Design and create relational databases
- Monitor and manage migrations and releases of Database Management Systems
- Ensure accurate installation and configuration of database and software
- Create and maintain user database and grant access accordingly to relevant databases
- Conduct software updates and backups and capacity planning and troubleshooting and disaster planning Conduct installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring, security and maintenance of complex multi database environments
- Develops scripts for standard and non-standard database access
- Developing and deploying a successful replication process
- Provide resolution of database conflicts that will result in optimum data performance
- Identify inappropriate data usage and rectify based on level of expertise or consult with senior staff members for guidance to
- Conduct quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data

Desired Experience & Qualification
- Relevant Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in Database Administration
