Overview:
The Finance Officer plays a critical role in managing the financial activities of the Church of the Holy Ghost. They are responsible for overseeing financial transactions, providing financial advice, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The Finance Officer reports to the church leadership and works closely with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Management:

- Manage financial transactions, including but not limited to, reconciliations, cash management, and expenses. **Prepare monthly management accounts in collaboration with external accountants.** Ensure monthly bank reconciliations are accurate and up to date. **Generate monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual financial reports in a timely manner.**

2. Budgeting and Planning:

- Assist in the development of the annual program and organisational budget. **Implement budgetary controls and monitor expenditure to ensure adherence to the budget.** Provide financial advice and guidance to support strategic planning and decision-making processes.

3. Compliance and Risk Management:

- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and church policies. **Manage financial risks and implement early warning systems to mitigate potential issues.** Ensure the submission of statutory returns and compliance with reporting requirements.

4. Stakeholder Management:

- Act as a point of contact for financial matters and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders such as church leadership and staff. **Liaise with external stakeholders including auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies as required.**

5. Record Keeping:

- Maintain accurate and organised financial records, both physical and electronic.
- Safeguard all financial documents and ensure confidentiality is maintained.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or related field. **2-5 years of experience in office finance management, preferably in a non-profit organisation or similar setting.** Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Excel and financial management software. **Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.**
