- As the Learning Snr Specialist Mining, you will be responsible for the governance of Mining Technical Training for Conventional Mining.

**Job Description**:
- Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Strategic Learning and Development Planning: Develop and execute a strategic plan for learning and development that aligns with the organisation's long-term goals in conventional mining. This includes identifying key skill gaps and future training needs based on industry trends and company objectives.
- Stakeholder Engagement for Strategic Alignment: Collaborate with senior management and key stakeholders to ensure learning strategies are in sync with business goals and operational strategies. Regularly review and adjust learning initiatives to meet changing business requirements.
- Implementation of Innovative Learning Solutions: Introduce innovative learning solutions and methodologies to enhance the effectiveness of training programs. This could involve blended learning, microlearning, gamification, and other modern instructional strategies.
- Measuring Training Effectiveness and ROI: Develop and implement metrics to measure the effectiveness of learning programs and their return on investment (ROI). This includes setting up key performance indicators (KPIs) for training initiatives and assessing their impact on operational performance.
- Talent Development and Succession Planning: Integrate training programs with the organisation’s talent development and succession planning efforts, ensuring the development of high-potential employees, and preparing them for future leadership roles in mining operations.
- Learning Culture Promotion: Champion a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the organization. Encourage knowledge sharing and professional development at all levels of the organisation.
- Cross-Functional Learning Integration: Ensure that the learning and development initiatives for mining are well-integrated with other functional areas such as safety, health, environmental management, and P&O practices.
- Adoption of Learning Technologies: Oversee the adoption and effective use of learning management systems (LMS) and other educational technologies to streamline training delivery and tracking.
- Change Management: Lead change management initiatives related to learning and development, ensuring smooth implementation of new programs and methodologies.
- Diversity and Inclusion in Learning Programs: Ensure that learning programs are inclusive and consider the diverse backgrounds and needs of the workforce, promoting equal opportunities for learning and advancement.
- External Partnerships and Collaboration: Forge partnerships with educational institutions, industry bodies, and other external organisations to enhance the quality and relevance of learning programs.
- Customized Learning Pathways: Develop customized learning pathways for different roles within conventional mining operations, catering to specific skill sets and career progression plans.
- Monitoring Industry Trends and Best Practices: Keep abreast of the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in mining and learning and development, to ensure the organisation stays at the forefront of effective training strategies.
- Mentoring and Coaching: Provide mentorship and coaching to learners, particularly in areas requiring specialized knowledge in mining.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records and reports of training activities, participant progress, and program effectiveness for management review and compliance purposes.
- Budget Management: Manage a budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost-effectiveness of training initiatives.
- Curriculum Development: Develop and continuously update training curriculum for mining operations, including theoretical knowledge and practical skills that are required
**Qualifications**:
- NQF 7 Bachelor’s Degree/Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Development.
- The following Technical Qualifications to be in place: Blasting Certificate/Mine Overseer
- Certificate. Assessor/Moderator/Lead Auditor Certificate will be advantageous.
EXPERIENCE
- At least five years Learning experience, of which two years in a Conventional Mining specialist
- role/middle management level. Experience in Project Management will be advantageous.
