**Job Purpose**:
Define and implement the vision for our hardware and software product and line-up and drive action throughout the organization to ensure the company's products meet the needs of its customers.

Drives the Product Development (PD) team, product roadmap and improvement function with the B2C division. Responsible for communication, team health and culture. Has authority over process, structure, scheduling, task assignment, documentation within the R&D department.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
**Minimum education (essential)**:Technical degree (BSc or BEng) (or relevant industry experience of 4+ years)

**Minimum education (desirable)**:BEng Industrial or BEng Biomedical. PMBok, Prince 2 or similar.

**Minimum applicable experience (years)**:5+ years

**KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS, WEIGHTS AND OBJECTIVES**:
**Project and Product Management (40%)**:

- Take ownership of product development efforts towards successful project delivery.
- Ensure product and prototype quality, working with suppliers to achieve this.
- Drive improvement in products based on user and system analytics.
- Define product requirements and document decisions.
- Track and manage product risks (e.g. licensing), in collaboration with the Legal & Regulatory team.
- Takes ownership of achieving PD Department deadlines as determined by management.
- Establish processes and standards for the product development lifecycle.
- Ensure cascading and effective communication within Cross-functional Teams.
- Communicate timelines, deadlines, progress, roadblocks etc to the relevant Team Leads and General Manager: B2C
- Coordinate and resolve issues experienced with projects and between team members.
- Manage and improve product development practices and standards.
- Liaise with suppliers, potential suppliers, and team to drive product success.
- Escalate issues and high risks when necessary.
**Product Strategy & Management (20%)**:

- Engage with the market and gain an in-depth understanding of the customer needs.
- Understand the context in which the product is used.
- Monitor external influencers and risks:

- Legislative compliance
- Competition
- Define & maintain product roadmap.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to align effort & communication.
- Manage product profitability and commercial success - own the business case.
- Provide marketing with insights on key differentiators and messages.
- Analyse CRM activity and customer churn data and use insights to improve products and/ or correct course of action.
**Team Management (15%)**:

- Provide developmental leadership to the PD team through coaching and mentorship.
- Ensure alignment with EXCO’s strategy and vision.
- Ensure alignment between team members.
- Ensure that the PD team is appropriately capacitated and that resources are efficiently utilised.
- Manage PD team productivity and metrics, ensuring quarter-on-quarter improvements.
- Efficiently and effectively deploy resources where and when needed.
- Ensure compliance to the established processes and standards for the product development lifecycle.
- Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team.
- Maintain job descriptions of team members and write new job descriptions for available positions within the department.
- Conduct regular check-ins with members of the PD department to ensure employees are supported and coached.
- Work on strategies and implementation for team happiness in order to decrease employee attrition and prevent employee burnout.
- Provide proactive feedback on performance and health of the team to management.
**Documentation (20%)**:

- Oversee collection and documentation of research documents, regulatory documents, legal documents, competitor landscape documents, product development and specification documents.
- Ensure that the division prepares other relevant documentation (like as-built) on the design and specification of products.
- Standardise and enforce documentation requirements in division.
