**Job Description**:

- As a Socio-Economic Development Manager, your responsibilities will include:
**Safety & Health**
- Act as a role model and reinforce a workplace culture where safety and health for the site is paramount
- Collect and summarise the specific risks within working area and implement plans/system to avoid these risks
- Manage Safety & Health systems within work area

**Performance & Delivery**

**Business expectations**
- Develop detailed response plan for priority unwanted events
- Ensure all relevant project and activity data are inputted to AAP and Group data management systems (various systems and then the centralised Isometrix data system.
- Safeguard the activities undertaken contribute to addressing the developmental priorities of the community and key stakeholders, especially the local government’s development agenda, for upliftment and improvement in community lives
- Ensure the team, site management and staff understand the SED component of the Social Way 3.0 and deliver on the approved Social Management Plan (SMP)
- Take responsibility for the SED plan including the site SLP

**Work management**
- Manage the process to develop SED plans that are compliant to the requirements of the Social Way specifically align to the key SED principles
- Oversee, maintain and improve the relationship with communities, traditional authorities, local government and other relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate the development, implementation and monitoring of the site SLPS to ensure the site complies with all relevant legislative requirements
- Oversee the development of robust Statements of Work for the prioritised elements, the development of Theory of Change for key projects, the development of Terms of Reference for projects, and the development of, and continuous improvement in, the monitoring and evaluation framework to determine if the projects are delivering the intended outcomes (and impact) to the beneficiaries
- Monitor the development, implementation, and the reporting on SLPs, Mining Charter, BBBEE in compliance with the relevant legislations

**Feedback**
- Provide feedback on current and likely future community SED needs and wants to the GM and other site functions, including: Human Resources, Supply Chain / Procurement, Anglo Zimele, Environment, Provide update reports to AAP and Group Business Partners SED as required

**Sustainability & social**
- Drive delivery the sustainability activities as relevant to discipline and set out in the Life of Asset Plan to improve sustainability performance over time
- Put in place sufficient physical and financial resources and coordinate delivery of Sustainable Mining Plan commitments relevant to discipline
- Manage compliance with environmental and social requirements as relevant to discipline, including commitments to stakeholders

**People & Teams**
- Support the development of, and ultimately implement, a purpose-led, high-performing culture within the teams that is aligned with the company values, is inclusive and promotes diversity
- Implement management processes for employee & contractor management within work area
- Develop team members

**Compliance**
- Manage compliance of the teams within work area with external (legislative, regulatory, permitting) local requirements as a minimum level of site performance
- Adhere to Anglo American compliance requirements and ensure compliance of teams within work area
- Manage adherence to compliance governance within the teams

**This role is in the Corporate Affairs & Sustainable Impact department at a Band 6 level reporting to the Corporate Affairs & Sustainable Impact Manager**
- Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in social science: Development Studies, Economics, Public Administration or equivalent in Social Impact Management
- Post graduate qualification.
- Project Management qualification (advantageous)

**Experience and knowledge required**:

- At least 5 years’ relevant social experience
- Experience of delivering strategic social management plans for businesses and operations.
- Experience of managing socio-economic development interventions - SLPs
- Strong knowledge of socio-economic deve
