**About the Role**

This role provides the opportunity to contribute to and take ownership of a broad range of legal entity financial management activities. You will play a valuable role in analysing and reporting on the company's financial position in a multi-valuation environment, collaborating closely with other finance colleagues and with the actuarial valuation teams. You will also support the implementation and adoption of IFRS 17 and contribute to tax compliance activities. The role requires strong technical expertise and allows for this foundation to be cultivated into business insights and steering of management actions.

Regulatory reporting and analytics:

- Coordinate the preparation of the quarterly and annual SAM returns for submission to the Prudential Authority.
- Prepare the quarterly and annual returns for submission to the South African Reserve Bank, ASISA and other industry bodies as may be required.
- Substantiate all reported figures with timely analysis prior to internal approvals of these submissions.
- Maintain healthy relationships with counterparts at the various regulatory bodies, giving high priority to any queries and communications we receive.

Tax reporting and compliance:

- Calculate quarterly and annual tax provisions
- Prepare the annual income tax return
- Support the handling and reporting of VAT on relevant transactions

Carrier Responsibilities:

- Prepare various legal entity reports for purposes of the Swiss Re Africa Board of Directors and Management Committee
- Assist in the balance sheet management and capital planning processes of the entity
- Support in the preparation of the company's annual financial statements.

Projects and initiatives:

- Contribute to the successful roll-in and reporting of IFRS 17 figures.
- Drive a variety of projects ranging from ad-hoc analyses to longer-term initiatives, often in collaboration with other teams and functions.

**About the Team**

The SA Carrier Reporting & Analytics team is responsible for the management of the Swiss Re Africa balance sheet and all related financial reporting related to the carrier. It is also the go-to function in the region for all questions regarding performance management, financial steering and reporting and provides advisory on growth initiatives, transactions, and other business priorities. The team is part of the Finance Reinsurance EMEA department and works closely with client managers, other teams in Finance and the wider Swiss Re organisation. This role will also be part of the EMEA Financial Performance and Analysis team, which consists of members based in Zurich, Munich, Luxembourg, London and Cape Town.

**About You**
- Chartered Accountant with at least 5 years of relevant work experience
- Good knowledge of insurance / reinsurance business and practices
- Solid understanding of multi-valuation concepts, strong expertise in IFRS, SAM and other economic valuations
- Ability to zoom in on details while maintaining the bigger picture view
- General knowledge of tax compliance processes, particularly VAT and income tax
- Outstanding analytical skills and commercial approach, keen to develop convincing storylines
- High degree of curiosity and flexibility to thrive in a global and dynamic business environment across all lines of business and regions
- Excellent social skills, comfortable to interact with a variety of cultures across all levels of the organisation and build a network of resources
- Team player with high degree of personal accountability and ability to work independently
- Ability to prioritise and deliver results within time constraints
- Strong computing and data management skills, knowledge of Swiss Re finance systems
