Hod : Manufacturing

The **Manufacturing HOD** must be a detailed orientated, proactive with a proven track record in handling all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing process, either for the entire facility or for specific departments. Working together with supervisors and top management, they also ensure that products are manufactured to a certain quality standard and adheres to other safety/industry-related regulations. The successful incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that our products are manufactured to the highest standards, and that our production team is working efficiently and effectively. They will also be responsible for developing and implementing new manufacturing processes and technologies.

Reporting to the **General Manager: Production/Manufacturing**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Managing the manufacturing teams and ensuring that they stay on schedule.
- Coordinating with other departments such as marketing, accounting, legal, and human resources to ensure that all areas are working together effectively.
- Reviewing project budgets to determine if they are feasible based on the scope of work involved.
- Managing day-to-day operations of the manufacturing department to ensure that projects run smoothly and meet deadlines.
- Overseeing the budget and adjusting where necessary to ensure that costs do not exceed income.
- Ensuring that all manufacturing equipment is in good working order and that all necessary materials are available.
- Directing and overseeing all aspects of a manufacturing or project, from start to finish.
- Determining and organizing the best approach for each project or production, including selecting a scriptwriter or composer based on their experience and expertise in the field.
- Determining the best way to promote manufacturing, including selecting an advertising agency and creating a marketing plan.
- Manage and support SHEQ initiatives and objectives.
- Define, propose and implement the annual manufacturing.
- Cost management of products and assist with new product costings models.
- Analyse budgets and continuously control manufacturing costs and identify/rectify waste measures.
- Manage all activities within the manufacturing process, including maintenance and the workforce.
- Handle logistics, warehousing and stock of raw materials used in manufacturing.
- Manage all teams within your manufacturing department (contracts/leave/pay).
- Create and implement organisational/manufacturing changes on an operative level.
- Focus on growing business and revenue by implementing necessary changes to product/manufacturing line to enter new markets or grow existing territories.
- Oversee all aspects of manufacturing.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Grade 12/Matric
- Degree in Engineering Management, technical management
- Electrical or Millwright Trade Test (Preferable)
- Automation / Robotic Experience (Advantageous)
- Industrial Engineering (Advantageous)
- +5 years experience as a Manufacturing Manager
- Excellent leadership, communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work under pressure and handle stress.
- Analytical skills
- Computer literate (MS Office, MS Project, SAP)
- No Criminal Record.
