**Role summary**:
The Medical Doctor must be able to function independently as a professional in the medical management of the in-patients at the Transitional Care Facility. The Medical Doctor must also function within the multi-disciplinary team and be able to liaise with all internal staff, patients, families, and outside healthcare providers, when necessary,

**Remuneration**:

- R 100 000.00 per annum

**Working hours**

Monday to Fridays - 6.30am to 4pm

**REQUIREMENTS**:
**Minimum educational qualifications**:

- Appropriate health professional qualification and current registration.
- Qualification MB ChB
- Registered as a Medical Practitioner
- Registration with HPCSA
- Proof of Medical Indemnity (MPS Registration)

**Experience**:

- Experience in leading and implementing major change initiatives.
- Understanding of the social, emotional, psychological, spiritual, and physical and mental health issues affecting older people.
- Proven interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships both internally, externally and with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Well-demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems and/or make appropriate recommendations.
- Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to plan workload, prioritize and adapt to changing demands.

**Competencies**:

- Provide palliative medical care expertise to the Hospice.
- Assess symptoms.
- Diagnose conditions.
- Prescribe and administer treatment.
- Provide follow-up care of patients, refer them to other providers, and interpret their laboratory results.
- Collaborate with registered nurses, and other health professionals.
- Ward rounds.
- Certification of deaths
- A comprehensive Curriculum vitae (CV) with contactable referees
- A copy of HPCSA registration
- A copy of identity document
- Proof of Medical Indemnity (MPS Registration)
