RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful incumbent will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

- Developing and enabling an inclusive, diverse and transformed environment through working with faculties and departments centres and institutes to identify social inclusion and social justice topics and how they could be interpreted to be included in the curriculum;
- Coordinate campaigns to raise awareness on transformation, diversity, inclusion and social justice;
- Provide input on communication strategies to effectively advertise the services of the Transformation Office to staff and students;
- Conducting advocacy, campaigns and strategic communications on transformation, inclusivity and diversity;
- Engage stakeholders in the University community to address issues of inclusivity by building capacity and creating a support network of peers;
- Engage with staff to encourage the infusion of inclusive language and behaviour in contact areas;
- Draft reports on University transformation progress to internal forums and external stakeholders such as Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), Department of Employment and Labour (DoEL) and SETA;
- Identify policies, procedures and processes that need to be updated to ensure they are as inclusive as possible;
- Research, conceptualise and draft policy documents to address gaps in policy and procedure;
- Support Transformation and Change Committees through management of the Transformation Agenda across faculties and departments;
- Participate in the institutional transformation processes, through:

- The support, motivation, communication and management of change within the institution;
- The support of the Institutional, Departmental and Faculty transformation committees to ensure their alignment with the institutions Transformation Charter;
- Influence and facilitate the training of all representatives on transformation bodies based in departments and faculties;
- Communicate equity/diversity/transformation initiatives to staff, students and external stakeholders as requested / required; and
- Prepare and facilitate interactive multi-media presentations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

- Honours Degree in Industrial Psychology, Human Resources Management, Social Sciences or another relevant field.
- A total of 5 years’ experience as follows:

- Transformation experience (including change management experience in complex projects in a large organisation;
- Experience in managing complex people related projects involving transformation and change;
- Proven experience in project co-ordination and implementation;
- Experience in Project Management; and
- A valid Driver’s License.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

- Good project planning and management skills;
- Excellent knowledge of Gender Based Violence management;
- Good knowledge of behavioural science;
- Sound knowledge of all relevant Legislation (Labour Relations Act, EE Act, Skills Development Act, etc.);
- Sound knowledge of BBBEE Code of Good Practice;
- Sound knowledge of conducting organisational climate and culture surveys;
- Good knowledge of organisational learning and change theory, management and communication;
- Sensitivity to and the ability to manage diversity in both the internal and external environment;
- Ability to deal with complex issues;
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and to deliver under strict time lines;
- Thorough understanding of good governance;
- Good strategic and change management skills;
- Administrative management skills;
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent counselling and conflict resolution skills;
- Excellent report writing; and
- Excellent team facilitation skills.

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

- Masters’ Degree in Industrial Psychology, Human Resources Management, Social Sciences or another relevant field;
- A total of 2 years’ experience as follows:

- Experience at a Higher Education institution;
- Establishing networks in the area of transformation or social justice; and
- Experience in Curriculum design.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
