Intercare Corporate Services situated in Lynnwood, Pretoria seeks to recruit a Technical Specialist.

The purpose of this position is conducting routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of facilities and provide technical support in restoring specialised and clinical equipment in the hospitals within the organisation.
**CRITICAL OUTPUTS**
- Troubleshooting problems with hospital equipment and systems, and identifying and implementing solutions to prevent downtime and ensure optimal functioning.
- Conducting routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of hospital equipment and systems, including air conditioning systems, electrical systems, plumbing systems, medical equipment, gas installations and other mechanical systems.
- Developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs for all critical and hospital equipment and systems, to ensure that they are maintained in good condition and that problems are detected and corrected before they lead to breakdowns or other issues.
- Coordinating with other hospital staff, such as engineers, medical professionals, and administrators, to ensure that maintenance activities do not disrupt patient care or other hospital operations.
- Managing maintenance budgets and ensuring that all maintenance activities are conducted in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
- Ensuring that all maintenance activities comply with relevant health and safety regulations and hospital policies and procedures.
- Maintaining accurate records of all maintenance activities, including schedules, work orders, and inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Managing contracts and service levels with outside vendors and service providers, such as equipment manufacturers, maintenance contractors, and technical consultants, to ensure that the hospital receives the highest quality of service at the most competitive prices.
- Staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in hospital equipment and system maintenance to ensure that the hospital is using the most effective and efficient approaches to maintenance.
- Training and supervising maintenance staff, including technicians and other support staff, to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively and safely.
- Project manage upgrade and renovation projects and lead the facilities workstream on the construction of new facilities.
- Implement the necessary security measures at all facilities and monitor vendor performance.
- Oversee electrical work and ensure necessary standards are adhered to and certifications obtained where applicable.

**REQUIREMENTS**
- N6, T4 with Mechanical or Electrical, or a related field.
- Completion of a technical or vocational program in a related field.
- Qualified Electrician.
- Minimum 10 - 12 years' relevant experience with a minimum of 4 - 6 years’ experience within a hospital environment, including experience in maintenance of hospital equipment and systems.
- Experience with troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with hospital equipment and systems.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and processes.
- Experience working with healthcare professionals and patients in a hospital setting.
