**Job Description**:

- Your responsibilities will also include to:

- Take responsibility for own case load of (client) health care users and practice, including diagnosis and prescribing practice.
- Collaborates/consults with peers and other health professionals regarding patient assessment, diagnose and management.
- Practices as an independent and autonomous Primary Care Nurse Specialist.
- Accepts personal and professional responsibility/ accountability for legal consequences of own diagnosis and prescribing practices.
- Approaches health care users presenting with health problems related to ethical dilemmas and stigma in an non-judgmental manner.
- Practices own profession according to Code of Ethics/ conduct and standards related to primary clinical care.
- Applies and functions within all relevant and current legislation, policies and protocol related to Primary Care Practice, including prescribing practices.
- Accepts responsibility and accountability for own clinical conduct and practice.
- Compile and keep accurate clear and complete records of the assessment, diagnosis, and management of the patient.
- Conducts a comprehensive and holistic health assessment on clients of all age groups, with complex health problems (acute, chronic and emergencies)
- Treat minor ailments and injuries where feasible and refer to other resources when necessary.
- Provide care and support for certain diseases based on business imperatives.
- Monitor and control chronic conditions impacting a worker’s ability to perform their tasks.
- Stabilise medical emergencies and refer to stepped-up care (also during stand-by shift).
- Provide certain vaccinations relevant to work exposure and business imperatives.
- Prepare clinic facilities for optimal efficiency.
- Calibrates the relevant equipment used in the Clinic daily.
- Conducts certain medical test for patients (VCT).
- Conduct physical examination.
- Diagnose, prescribe and dispense medication according to scope of practice.
- Ensure that the clinic is well-stocked with the medical supplies required.
- Cleans and sanitises patient surroundings.
- Records and ensures document management of patients in the primary health clinic.
- Conduct patient observations (e.g DOT: Direct Observation Treatment).

**This role is at the **Safety, Health & Asset Reliability department at a Band 8 level reporting to the Senior Professional Nurse.**
- Qualifications
- Grade 12
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing Science
- Primary Health Care Certificate/Diploma
- Registered with SANC
- Dispensing License
- Basic Life Support Certificate

**Experience**
- 2-3 years’ experience in similar role
- Family or community nursing experience
- Knowledge of Health promotion and prevention
- Knowledge of operational processes within scope of role
- Safety, health and environment, legislative, statutory, regulatory and permitting requirements
- Computer Skills - (MS Office)
- Valid Driver’s license
