**Cedar Wood Recruitment is now recruiting for a Maintenance Assistant at a private “Big Five” game reserve adjacent to the Kruger National Park. There are two world renowned lodges within the reserve which form part of an international portfolio of exclusive lodges. The area is an excellent place to observe buffalo, rhinoceros, elephant, lion and leopard. The lodge operations are highly professional providing efficient guest experiences within a fun-loving and outgoing atmosphere which is typical of the group. A hands-on approach is therefore expected of all team members.**

***Key Performance Areas**
- The role of the Maintenance Assistant is to proactively maintain and repair all lodge property, accommodation areas, structures, buildings, plant and equipment. To ensure all areas of the property are kept to the highest possible standard of maintenance and upkeep._
- Take care of all property tools and working equipment and to ensure the safe and efficient use of all equipment.
- Ensure all equipment is secured and report any losses of property.
- Ensure chemicals are stored in a safe manner.
- Ensure all fire and safety equipment is always maintained and in good working order, in conjunction with the Health & Safety Manager.
- Attend to any plumbing, basic electrical and other maintenance related problems.
- Attend to swimming pools daily, have knowledge of pool cleaning and chemical dosage procedures.
- Clean kitchen fat traps daily.
- Check all arrival rooms for any maintenance related issues daily.
- Clean filters on air-conditioning systems and ensure that air-cons are operationally sound.
- Stock lodges with all necessary consumables including globes, paraffin, HTH, pool acid etc - Report low levels of stock/spares to Supervisor.
- Ensure that gas supply for kitchens is stocked timeously and report if gas stocks are low.
- Monitor the water supply on a regular basis as well as ensuring chemical dosages at storage tanks are at the required levels.
- Ensure readings at water storage tanks are completed.
- Ensure pumps are running and that there are no leaks in the pipelines.
- To ensure electric fences are always maintained and in good working order.
- To provide support to the lodges with bush function set-ups - Ensure appropriate break-down has taken place after the function, fires are put out and sites are left clear.
- Supply lodges with wood when required.
- Ensure generators are filled with fuel.
- Maintain maintenance vehicles, ensure they are kept clean, in good condition and filled with fuel.
- Collect waste from lodges and drop at dump site.
- Always be presentable and contactable.
- Required to be on stand-by on a shift basis

***Requirements: Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, Experience**
- Preferably 3 years’ experience in lodge maintenance
- Sound knowledge of air-conditioning/fridge, electrical and plumbing background
- Sound knowledge of pool cleaning, maintenance and chemical dosing
- Knowledge of basic machinery and tools and how to use them safely
- Certificate of qualifications pertaining to the maintenance field
- General maintenance skills
- Driver’s license essential

***Remuneration and Package**
- R5300 basic monthly salary
- Permanent employment
