**Purpose**
- Lead the Human Resources function and manage HR processes and practices to support business unit needs and ensure the planned implementation of company strategy and objectives, across 3 divisions, 500+ staff.
- Promote corporate values and employee engagement culture and enable business success through job design, recruitment, performance management, training & development, talent management, succession planning, compensation and reward and sound industrial relations.
- Reporting to: Advanced Refractories MD SA and HR Executive Poland

**MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES (key performance areas and required outputs)**:

- Partner and support BU line management Establish sound working relationships with line management and consult and advise on all related HR matters to support BU operational effectiveness. HR Processes and Systems.
- Ensure the effective implementation of HR processes and procedures e.g. selection and recruitment, on-boarding, performance management, training and talent management, career development, succession planning, employment equity, compensation and reward etc.
- Provide appropriate information and support to management on HR activities, interventions and corporate HR programs Provide accurate and current HR data monthly to facilitate key HR decision-making
- Lead and ensure compliance to the performance management cycle, compensation and merit review cycle and talent management cycle
- Lead and ensure effective training and development services to ensure optimal functioning across the organisation
- Monitor, evaluate and nurture key relationships to maintain good industrial relations with partners such as unions, sectorial groups and other stakeholders
- Coordinate salary reviews, reward and recognition programmes Implement approved awards initiatives
- Chair job profiling and job/ grading evaluation committees as required
- Ensure successful in-service training programmes and implementation of Work Place Sills Plan
- Promote and monitor LTV awards and I- Engage climate and culture survey Promote and facilitate effective people management
- Maintain good employee relations and effective discipline Identify deviant behaviour timeously and correct where necessary/possible Support performance management initiatives
- Ensure accurate performance assessments are timeously completed
- Hold career development discussions
- Investigate and action poor performance (e.g. damage, quality issues, etc.) to be investigated and actioned
- Identify talent, plan skills development and training needs
- Identify and use coaching opportunities Promote communication and flow of relevant information to all levels
- Ensure financial control on HR spend Manage the HR budgets effectively through strict budget control
- Control departmental procurement, recruitment and training spend Ensure compliance with organisational BBBEE budgets.
- Leadership Identify and timeously address functional related problems and opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders
- Provide HR direction and compliance Leadership of change aligned to Company strategy Ensure compliance with relevant legal / statutory and company requirements for environmental, health, safety and quality standards**Inherent Requirements**

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Relevant Human Science degree or BComm with Industrial and organisational psychology

**EXPERIENCE (number of years, seniority level, nature)**:

- At least 10 years’ experience in a related role of which 5 must be in an HR management capacity Multi-national/international exposure and reporting, manufacturing background i.e. hands-on knowledge of how a manufacturing plant works

**EXPERTISE/KNOWLEDGE AREAS**:

- Very good knowledge of HR principles, processes and procedures, compensation and Industrial Relations
- Must have managed an HR function with direct HR reports Solid knowledge of general administrative processes HRIS Solid Payroll experience - will oversee payroll, conduct monthly payroll audit, knowledge of tax, statutory payments, etc Talent Management (pipeline & succession planning, people review processes) - MERSETA, workplace skills plan Performance Management Training and Development Selection/recruitment, manpower control/process, initiating and approval of hires, on-boarding and inductions

**Good understanding and working knowledge of Employee Benefits BBBEE**:

- Good understanding and working knowledge including learnerships and apprenticeships etc Advantage if person has been a trustee on Provident Fund Good understanding of organisational business processes and procedures, strong general business acumen i.e. Profit & Loss, Cash Flow, business costs etc Solid knowledge of relevant organisational policies Solid understanding of relevant legislation
