**_ Position Purpose:_**
- Creation of new data capabilities for Transnet by envisioning and executing strategies that will influence improvement of the

business performance by enabling informed decision-making.
- Shape and implement advanced analytics strategies in Transnet

- Creation of new data capabilities for Transnet by envisioning and executing strategies that will influence improvement of the

business performance by enabling informed decision-making.
- Shape and implement advanced analytics strategies in Transnet
- Think creatively, conceptually and lead projects resulting in long term impact on Transnet’s vision in many strategic areas
- Lead efforts to develop scalable, innovative, approaches to extracting, managing, and analysing data from customers.
- Create a road map for implementation of data and analytics strategy, including infrastructure design and development of

data models.
- Develop data policies, standards, organisation and enforcement of data governance
- Design, Develop and deliver various data science based insights, outcomes and innovation(using mathematics, computer

science, statistics, engineering management science, technology, economics etc.) and create “proof of concepts &
blueprints “to deliver faster, timely, highly precise, workable and proactive decision making based on data based insights and
science and shape strategic path of Transnet.
- Build and manage a team of data scientists, data analyst and data managers
- Lead successful cross0functional collaborations with significant execution rigour,customer focus and data to decision

thinking
- Evangelize the need for data science across Transnet and educate peers and other leaders of the latest in data science &
analytics.
- Understand the underlying data architecture such as schemes and table relationships for data extractions and configuring

new reports
- Be able to work with large volumes of demographic and activity data and design and develop state-of-the-art, data driven
- analytic technologies (such as statistical modelling, neural networks, scorecards, machine learning, pattern recognition and

artificial intelligence)
- Own adoption, execution and integration of data science based solutions end to end all the way from discovery to

launch/post launch and into business design, service delivery, operations, marketing, brand management, research and
- technology road maps.

**_ Qualifications & Experience:_**
- Bachelor’s degree in Compute Science, Technology, Mathematics, Engineering
- Master’s degree will be an advantage
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in data/analytics
- Proficient with Python, R, SQL, leveraging data to inform decision making
- At least 5 years’ senior experience in:

- Modelling, data mining and data analysis

- Using of applied analytics and predictive analytics
- Neutral networks and machine learning
- Statistics, advanced mathematics, regression analysis, variable reduction techniques
- Experience in leading innovative
