**HR - Chief of Staff**

Our client is a growing English law firm, based in South Africa and the Caribbean.

They are looking for a dynamic individual to join their team in a new role as **Chief of Staff (CoS)**.
- The CoS’s role is to ensure that they have the right people in the right place to deliver on their commitments to clients and support the team members’ development over their time at the firm.
- The job includes recruiting, resourcing decisions, employee relations, and team development.
- The CoS will not have line reports but will work closely with team leads across South Africa and the Caribbean and be the person to deal with personnel concerns.
- The role will require not only working closely with people, but also being able to analyze resourcing needs and plan who works on what as well as developing the systems needed to ensure that everyone thrives.

**Required Qualifications and Experience**
- Tertiary qualification
- Min 10 years’ experience in operations management / human resource environment
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Experience in human resources management (recruitment, onboarding, training and development, employee wellness, succession planning etc.)

**Responsibilities**
- Provide first level support to team leads around resourcing and HR concerns.
- Support the recruiting process, including screening, interviewing, and decision making.
- Regular check-ins with team members and providing employee wellness support.
- Maintain a recruitment, resourcing, transitioning, and succession plan, including ensuring that team members get new opportunities, teams have the right support, and the impact of changes are thought-through and addressed.
- Developing and delivering soft-skill training for the team, including mentoring and coaching skills, and coaching the coaches.
- Use their dashboards and data to understand trends and respond appropriately, at the team and individual level.
- Identify opportunities to improve how the firm supports the team members and lead continuous improvement of the people aspects of delivery at the firm, including the onboarding and development processes, the systems they use, and the support and benefits they offer.
- Supporting embedding a learning culture, where everyone is expected to own their own careers.
- Help ensure that team members’ contributions are recognized and celebrated.
- Support performance management for team members on an exception basis where there are persistent issues.
- Support decision making on remuneration and progression.
- Support embedding ideal team behaviors, including continuous improvement practices.
