Sound Technician

A production company located in Pretoria. They specialise in video production and live streaming which entails many areas of expertise such as cinematography, video editing, animation, creative direction, design, and social media management to name a few.

**Job Overview**:
My client has vacant position for an enthusiast, who’ll work closely with us to establish and grow our brand as a Cinematographer. You’ll be an integral part of our core team. You will be working closely with the team on the shot lists for videos. You will be responsible for preparing and setting up the gear on location. Lighting the scene and ensuring the sound recording is correct. In many cases you will have to direct the talent to ensure you capture the right emotion on and adjust the set to your needs. You will be responsible to dump the footage and manage the recording media. From time to time it might be expected from you to assist with video editing.

Key Performance Areas

**Pre Production**
- Contribute to the unique aesthetic style of the video
- Provide practical and creative input to the shot list
- Make decisions about the use of different lenses, filters, lighting techniques and camera
- movements to create the desired effect and prompt different emotional responses from the audience
- Plan and scout locations for a shoot
- Plan the technical execution of each shot and plan out what equipment will be required
- Complete the gear list
- Be involved throughout the entire production life cycle

**Production**
- Assemble and setup equipment.
- Which may include tripods, monitors, lighting, cables, leads, headphones, live mixing equipment and teleprompters and stabilisers.
- Make creative choices to enhance the visual impact of our videos
- Directing that which is in front of your lens
- Follow the script and shot list where and when applicable
- Resolve technical or practicals issues
- Escalate any issues of major concern to the Director in a timely man
- Do on the fly content creation for the social media channels
- Be comfortable around expensive and delicate equipment as well as able to concentrate and attend to detail

**Qualifications and Experience**
- A tertiary on in a relevant field
- At least 2 years of experience in corporate video recording
- Extensive working knowledge of:

- The Sony A7s iii
- Sony, Tamron and Sigma lenses
- Edelkrone sliders
- DJI gimbals
