Matie Shop new position available: Junior Buyer

The Stellenbosch University Matie Shop is the official merchandise store of Stellenbosch University. This unit resides outside the traditional University framework in a spin-out company, Factory 209 (Pty) Ltd, which is 100% owned by SU (Stellenbosch University). We are the official buyers and distributors of all SU-branded apparel, gifting and accessories.

**Annual renumeration**: 180 000 - 220 000 depending on skills and experience

**Requirements**:
Qualifications/education/training

Essential: Grade 12 Senior Certificate.

Desirable: BComm Degree or Diploma in procurement, fashion, design or similar.

Professional Experience

Essential: 2 - 3 years buying experience

Desirable: Preferably in the apparel, corporate gifting and accessory market

Professional skills

Essential
- Ability to source and procure a range of products in line with company strategy and proven track record in fair and competitive sourcing and purchasing. Preferably in the apparel, corporate gifting sector.
- Excellent negotiation skills, numerical and analytical with high attention to detail
- General financial administrative skills.
- Assess complex situations and implement workable solutions.
- Familiar with general retail principles and practices
- Resilience and emotional maturity.
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team.

**Desirable**
- Office administration experience
- Fair understanding of clothing design.

Programs and Systems
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office especially proficient in Excel
- MS teams/ zoom/ other suitable virtual meeting platforms
- Minimum 2 to 5 years buying experience preferably in the apparel, corporate gifting sector.

**Desirable**
- Exposure to Inventory management systems
- Any additional experience in programs or systems relevant to the position
