Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa S-RM Full time

S-RM RECRUITMENT:

ASSOCIATE: SOUTH AFRICA

We have a new and exciting case manager role available within our Corporate Intelligence division in Cape Town. The successful candidate/s will join S-RM's due diligence team, working on projects with a global focus. This team services some of S-RM's largest clients globally and contributes to the growth and success of the business.

WHO WE ARE

S-RM is a global intelligence and cyber security consultancy. Since 2005, we've helped companies, governments, and private individuals solve some of their most complex challenges. We've been able to do this because of our outstanding people. We're committed to developing bright, curious, driven individuals who want to think critically, solve complex problems, and achieve success. But we also know that work isn't everything. It's about the lives and careers it helps us build. We're immensely proud of this culture and we invest in our people's wellbeing, learning, and ideas every day.

WORKING IN CORPORATE INTELLIGENCE AT S-RM

Every day, we're asked by some of the world's most prominent companies to research the backgrounds of those they'd like to do business with, respond to bespoke questions, and support our clients with intelligence as part of contentious disputes. We use the latest research techniques and tools to investigate how companies and individuals do business in today's world. It's our job to find the evidence, analyze whether it's true, and put it in context to help our clients understand its importance. If that sounds challenging, it is. No day is the same at S-RM, and there are incredible opportunities to learn. We're proud to say our investigative training is amongst the best in the industry, and you'll work alongside the smartest colleagues in the field. We hire to learn from your ideas as much as to share our own. The range of topics we cover means there's no 'typical' team member or assignment. You'll work alongside journalists, international relations experts, linguists, economists, lawyers, and scientists. Our work also spans every region of the world and over 30 languages. The only thing that matters is an enthusiasm for the work, a sense of curiosity, and the skills to succeed. If that sounds like the kind of work you find interesting and the kind of team you'd thrive in, we'd like to hear from you.

THE ROLE

The successful candidate for the Associate role will be involved in numerous areas of the management of the team personnel and casework. You will be expected to promote best practice relating to research, assessment, and methodology and ensure delivery aligns with the high expectations of our clients. Good teamwork and clear communication are integral to success at S-RM. We work together to address multi-faceted intelligence challenges in order to provide our clients with well-sourced, objective reporting on sometimes contentious and complex issues. S-RM provides a mixture of internal and external training to promote your development, in addition to providing ongoing mentoring and support in your career.

We expect that the successful candidate will likely be involved with some or all of the following:

  • Managing open source and human source-led due diligence investigations;
  • Keen interest in working in different jurisdictions;
  • Editing reports written by analysts on companies and individuals, with a global focus – primarily focused on the Americas and Western Europe;
  • Delivering constructive feedback;
  • Training, development, and line management of more junior members of the team;
  • Preparing proposals for clients.

The role will be based in our Cape Town office; however, we have flexible working arrangements available.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We think candidates with the following skills and experience are likely to succeed as Associates at S-RM. That said, if you don't think you meet all of the criteria below but still are interested in the job, please apply. Nobody checks every box—we're looking for candidates that are particularly strong in a few areas, and have some interest and capabilities in others.

We're looking for someone that is able to adapt to change and work comfortably in a fast-paced environment, with the following experience and qualifications:

  • Excellent understanding of research and investigative skills required to conduct open-source investigations;
  • Proven ability to effectively plan, staff, and manage projects of varying complexities within budget and timelines, as well as being accountable for the work of other team members, quality assurance, and client deliverables;
  • Working experience in people and line management (e.g., providing feedback and guidance), administration (e.g., managing mid- and end-of-year reviews, management of sick days, etc.), and overseeing professional development of direct reports;
  • Experience interacting with clients including responding to requests and issues;
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills as well as excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Experience contributing to pitches and business development activities is desirable;
  • A working knowledge of financial and commercial concepts.
