Minimum Requirements

  • NQF Level 7 qualification in Relevant field of specialization OR Built Environment OR Engineering OR related field.
  • Registered with Professional Body.
  • Eligible to be registered as a professional member of ECSA OR PMP OR SACPMP OR relevant field.
  • At least five years' experience in a specialist's environment.
  • Technical knowledge.
  • Project management knowledge.
  • Negotiating Skills.
  • Knowledge of the operations of a university, or organization with similar needs and constraints, and its environment.
  • Strong planning, organizing, and delivering ability.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong team abilities.
  • Competent time management skills.
Summary Of Duties
  • Inspecting, assessing, and assigning approved work and services to service providers; ensuring that service providers/contracts/internal staff execute work correctly, timely, and according to the required standards or service levels.
  • Implementing, utilizing, and updating electronic systems to plan and execute work procedures (Planned or Scheduled maintenance programs).
  • Managing work packages or work orders throughout all statuses and project/contract phases, including emergency work management and scheduling.
  • Managing work quality in accordance with policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Defining risk response control to enable proactive management of identified risks.
  • Overseeing work execution to ensure desired results are achieved efficiently.
  • Conducting quality assurance in accordance with set schedules.
  • Assisting and advising relevant internal stakeholders and teams on the best use of DUT resources.
  • Undertaking other duties or managing certain projects as delegated.
  • Preparing and submitting reports/statistics of work undertaken to various structures as required.
  • Tracking and reporting work deliverables and performance management of contractors.
  • Preparing the monthly consolidated management report on operational and running costs.
  • Maintaining good communication with all stakeholders and developing engagement processes.
  • Providing and planning work for service contractors to access areas where work needs to be carried out.
  • Engaging stakeholders and creating awareness procedures for work access.
  • Identifying deliverables in accordance with a formulated project plan.
  • Selecting staff and allocating to identified areas of responsibility.
  • Informing staff of expected roles and responsibilities.
  • Planning and executing project team development.
  • Analyzing the HR plan and setting performance targets for the team.
  • Ensuring implementation of learning and development programmes for staff.
  • Creating a conducive climate for team performance.
  • Monitoring and measuring department performance in accordance with metrics.
  • Initiating proactive and corrective actions as required.
  • Completing management actions within required time frames.
  • Coaching direct reports and providing constructive feedback.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the impact of development interventions on performance.
