Sales Representative – Universities & Public Sector
Esco Lifesciences is a global leader in laboratory and pharmaceutical equipment. We're seeking a results-driven Sales Representative to focus on universities and public sector institutions across South Africa. This role is ideal for a motivated individual who thrives in a consultative sales environment and wants to make a real impact in science and research.
Location: South Africa | Regular travel required
Key Responsibilities- Develop and grow Esco's customer base within universities, government labs, and research institutions.
- Generate new business through prospecting, networking, and customer visits.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with academics, researchers, and procurement officials.
- Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate Esco solutions, including biosafety cabinets, CO₂ incubators, ULT freezers, and other lab equipment.
- Manage the full sales cycle: lead qualification, presentations, quoting, negotiation, and closing.
- Maintain accurate records in the CRM system and provide regular sales forecasts and updates.
- Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets.
- Represent Esco at conferences, campus visits, and industry expos.
- 1–3 years of successful sales experience, preferably in scientific, medical, or technical industries.
- Demonstrable track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage academic and technical audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a wide territory.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and digital sales tools.
- A scientific background or experience selling lab equipment is a plus.
- Willing and able to travel regularly across South Africa.
