Expression of Interest: Master of Engineering

Varsity College and IIE MSA are educational brands of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE). THE OPPORTUNITY

IIE Varsity College and IIE MSA are looking for qualified academics to supervise or act as external examiners for the Master of Engineering programme in the following disciplines:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechatronic Engineering

Job Purpose

The primary purpose of this position is the delivery of effective supervision or to examine dissertations on qualifications and all associated academic activities such as student engagement and support that will promote student success and learning.

Minimum Qualification

  • The minimum requirement for an academic who would supervise on the Master of Engineering is a completed PhD in Engineering with an undergraduate Science qualification or a Doctorate in Engineering in the disciplines of either Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechatronic Engineering.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PrEng) with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is desirable for supervisors and is required for external examiners.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of two years dissertation supervision experience on NQF Level 9 in the field of Engineering.
  • Work experience as a Lecturer, Supervisor, or Engineering Academic would be advantageous.
