Solar Cluster Sales Representative

Solar Cluster is seeking a sales representative to help grow our business in the Commercial Renewable Sector, focusing on both PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) and outright purchases.

The sales representative will have a strong understanding of the sales process and excel at generating leads, building relationships, and closing deals. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner with strong negotiating skills and an ability to showcase our offerings compellingly. This role involves giving presentations and attending networking events and trade shows, requiring a personable and professional demeanor.

Duties & Responsibilities

Job requires taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

  1. Achieve sales targets by generating revenue through effective sales strategies.
  2. Obtain new clients within the PPA sector.
  3. Perform cost-benefit and needs analysis of existing/potential customers.
  4. Manage the entire sales process from lead generation to closing, including prospecting, sales pitch, client visits, proposal generation, and contract negotiations.
  5. Develop strong business relationships with key industry players to drive growth.
  6. Implement sales strategies and initiatives to meet business objectives.
  7. Work closely with marketing and other departments to generate leads.
Deal Management
  1. Drive the process to guarantee a deal's success working with stakeholders.
  2. Collaborate with the engineering team and support functions to ensure client satisfaction and timely project delivery.
  3. Assist with Small Scale Embedded Generation (SSEG) applications.
  4. Utilize and update the company's CRM tool.
Customer Relationship Management
  1. Build and maintain relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction throughout the sales and construction period.
  2. Work closely with other departments to ensure upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
  3. Resolve customer problems and complaints to maximize satisfaction.
  4. Provide management with reports on customer needs, problems, and potential for new products and services.
  5. Establish and maintain positive business and customer relationships.
Reporting
  1. Analyze sales metrics and trends to determine the effectiveness of sales strategies.
  2. Create and maintain a prospect list to ensure a healthy pipeline.
  3. Report sales performance and provide regular updates to management.
  4. Update the CRM tool to reflect sales activities.
  5. Track opportunities won/lost and the reasons.
  6. Gather market intelligence and stay updated on industry trends.
  7. Analyze competitors and identify opportunities to differentiate products and services.
Desired Experience & Qualification
  1. Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks.
  2. Experience in creating, selling, and communicating techno-commercial proposals to non-technical clients.
  3. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with proficiency in English required; Afrikaans or African languages are a plus.
  4. Customer service skills to address customer concerns.
  5. Interpersonal skills to build relationships and network.
  6. Confidence and strong self-assuredness in customer interactions.
  7. Relevant tertiary qualification (preferably in Business Administration, Marketing, or Engineering with sales experience).
  8. Existing network of potential clients and partners in the commercial & industrial sector in South Africa.
  9. Understanding of solar financial products.
  10. Financial modeling and commercial contract understanding.
  11. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  12. South African Citizenship, clear criminal record, and valid driver's license.
Experience and Required Skills
  1. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in sales.
  2. Proven track record of achieving sales targets in renewable energy, infrastructure, finance, or related industries.
  3. Comfortable working in the digital realm, utilizing tools such as CRM, Google, MS Office, Teams/Zoom, LinkedIn.
