The opportunity
To build and grow the Automation & Communication service portfolio effectively in covering Hitachi Energy Grid Automation install based, system & solutions coverage throughout Southern Africa. Supporting customers in finding and offering the right solutions to meet the expectation and demand for a sustainable and continuous coverage of reliability and quality of our offerings.
How you'll make an impact
- You will collaborate with the Service Sales Manager to implement Service sales strategy, penetrate IB, promote various upgrades, retrofits, and value-added solutions to the benefit of the customer and Hitachi Energy, understand the channel strategy and the establishment of related prices, prepare sales plans, review them, and propose recovery plans when needed, and regularly update the installed base in the Service database with the changes made at the site.
- You will utilize the Service database to understand the existing installed base (IB), identify and develop sales opportunities for Service products and solutions to penetrate the existing IB/new IBs in the market and focus on the entire Service portfolio to secure profit for assigned Business Units/Product Groups.
- You will generate Service sales leads and develop new market opportunities by utilizing market trend information, identifying and exploring potential new service portfolios, and taking a one Hitachi approach to leverage other colleagues' portfolios.
- You will establish long-term customer relationships by understanding customer requirements, applicable regulations, and demonstrating in-depth technical and service product/solutions knowledge to promote Life Cycle Management (LCM), register customer feedback, and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the sales process.
- You will sell the entire service AC product portfolio to expand Hitachi Energy's footprint in the designated area(s), chart out and monitor sales proposals, tender and follow up proposal statistics, support the tendering team to prepare Hitachi Energy's Service offerings based on customer needs and in coordination with the local Service Sales Manager, communicate contract details in accordance with Hitachi Energy's offering strategy, and manage administrative sales processes.
- You will act as a marketer/salesperson of Hitachi Energy's service products and solutions during marketing activities (trade fairs, exhibitions, conferences, customer meetings) and translate the needs of customers into relevant Hitachi Energy Service offerings and solutions.
- You will contribute to risk assessments related to price and quality, register required information into the appropriate customer database, ensure technical reliability, safety, and cost-effective solutions to satisfy customer needs and comply with health and safety directives.

Your background
- A bachelor's degree or diploma in electrical engineering is preferred.
- More than 5-8 years of experience in a technical sales role and having knowledge and understanding of Grid Automation (Automation and communication) portfolios.
- Previous fieldwork experience in Grid Automation systems (Automation and communication) will be an added advantage.
- We are looking for experienced, self-motivated, and reliable team players with an independent and result-oriented working style, as well as strong communicative and collaborative skills.
- Able to work independently and also collaborate in a team setup.
- You consider yourself to be an energetic, supportive, and self-confident person who can handle both ups and downs and manage problems that may occur.
- Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
