Payroll Accountant

Position Overview : My client is looking for a highly motivated Payroll Accountant to take on a key role in the financial operations of their business.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining payroll accounting duties, general ledger management, and supporting various finance and payroll-related activities, to ensure smooth operations and accurate reporting.
Key Responsibilities :- Payroll Accounting & GL Management : Process and reconcile monthly payroll entries, ensuring integration into the Sage X3 ERP system. Maintain the general ledger, including preparing journal entries, coding invoices, and account reconciliations. Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and provide commentary, including inter-company invoicing. Record and maintain accurate documentation of payroll and related accounting data. Assist the payroll and finance teams with headcount reconciliations and ensuring that data is aligned with finance requirements.
- Financial Reporting & Reconciliations : Assist with month-end closing, balancing journals, and clearing GL accounts. Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes. Prepare monthly payroll journal entries and assist with budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc projects. Collate the daily cash flow figures and assist with cashbook payments as required. Ensure that all financial reporting deadlines are met.
- Audit & Compliance Support : Assist external Auditors with year-end audits, including the preparation of schedules, providing supporting documentation, and explaining procedures. Prepare year-end audit reports and reconciliations, and ensure compliance with the relevant accounting standards.
- Ad Hoc & Miscellaneous Duties : Assist with the administration of off-payroll payments. Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed. Perform ad hoc finance projects for specific business units.
- Bachelors Degree in Commerce (BCom) or related field.
- Proven experience in payroll accounting, preferably in an FMCG, or similar, industry.
- Strong understanding of general ledger management, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Familiarity with Sage X3 ERP system is highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of financial reporting, auditing, and compliance requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and other accounting software.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
- Available to start immediately.
