About Health Benefit Solutions

Health Benefit Solutions is a division within Discovery Health Systems responsible for product application development and integration into Discovery. The core applications are developed to support authorization management, claims processing and payments against members health policies.

Key Purpose

Acts as a technical owner of a set of applications, managing relationships with Business Product owners and ensuring that business objectives are reflected in the technical processes which they manage. This includes managing a team of IT specialists, specifically resourcing and scheduling in the SDLC Processes, managing a set of projects (potentially across teams), and ensuring that the applications remain adaptive to emerging client needs in its lifetime.

    • Ensuring alignment to business requirements
    • Building trust with clients by displaying managerial competence
    • Understanding business requirements, business strategy and direction, risks and impact
    • Participating in client forums (MANCO, planning/strategy sessions, reporting)
    • Acting as consultant to internal and external clients
    • Interfacing to other teams where required

    • Management of activities within the SDLC (Acting as process owner)

Education and Experience

  • 3-5 years' experience in software development for large commercial entities or has demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Must have managed a software development team

  • SDLC (Agile experience would be advantageous), ITIL (Incident, change, Release, Problem Management)
