Job Purpose: To manage and facilitate outdoor advertising in the built and natural environment within the eThekwini Municipality.

This post reports to DEPUTY HEAD (DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT)

Key Responsibility Areas
  • Identifies and aligns the branches key performance areas to support legislative, policy and procedural changes and/or departmental objectives.
  • Directs and controls outcomes associated with utilization, productivity and performance of staff within the branch.
  • Prepares capital and operating estimates and manages expenditure against the approved budget allocations.
  • Manages the establishment and implementation of an effective signage applications and approval system.
  • Coordinates and facilitates advertising opportunities in terms of the applicable policies, regulations, and bylaws.
  • Manages the assessment and approval of development applications process.
  • Manages the lodging and processing of appeals/objections in respect of signage and advertising applications.
  • Manages the processes to regularise or remove unauthorised signage, advertising, posters.
  • Develops improvements and innovations in the delivery of branch outputs.
  • Disseminates information on the immediate, short and long term objectives and current developments, challenges/constraints.
  • Liaises with the Managers of the Building Inspectorate and Development applications and approvals branch.
  • Coordinates administrative and reporting requirements associated with the key performance and result indicators of the functionality.
  • Supports special projects and programmes.
  • Represents Council in statutory matters.
  • Manages information, records, and databases relating to signage and advertising applications.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality on all matters concerned.
  • Undertakes related assignments.
Minimum Requirements
  • Degree (NQF Level 7) in the Urban Design or Brand Management field or any other related and equivalent qualification.
  • Valid motor vehicle driving license.
  • 5 years relevant experience of which 2 years must be at a management level.
  • Computer Literacy
Preferred Requirements
  • Postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8) in the Urban Design or Brand Management field or any other related and equivalent qualification.
  • 6 years relevant experience of which 3 years must be at management level.
