Sanlam Alternative Investments (SAI) is looking for an Alternative Investments: Data & Property Analyst to support our investment strategy team focusing on real estate and alternative asset vehicles. This role bridges quantitative analysis with property market expertise to drive investment decisions and maximise portfolio performance. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models to evaluate potential property investments and alternative asset opportunities. Conduct rigorous quantitative analysis of market trends, property valuations, and investment performance. Create comprehensive risk assessment frameworks incorporating market‑level and property‑specific variables. Perform detailed due diligence on target properties and alternative investment opportunities, analysing metrics such as Net Operating Income, cap rates, occupancy trends, tenant profiles, property conditions, location dynamics, regulatory and environmental considerations. Prepare investment memoranda, analytical reports, and presentations for the investment committee; communicate findings to stakeholders. Maintain databases of property transactions, market indicators, and investment performance; identify and integrate new data sources. Monitor macroeconomic trends, regulatory changes, and develop proprietary market insights. Produce monthly investment opportunity reports, quarterly portfolio performance assessments, and regular market intelligence briefings. Develop data visualization dashboards and provide ad‑hoc scenario analyses on valuations. Collaborate with system service providers, property managers, and auditors to ensure data quality and process improvements. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or related field with 3–5 years of relevant experience. Advanced proficiency in Excel, financial modelling, and investment analysis techniques. Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) and statistical software. Working knowledge of programming languages (Python, R) for data analysis is preferred. Familiarity with real estate and alternative investment databases and resources. Strong analytical skills, numerical aptitude, and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to present insights to stakeholders at all levels. Proactive self‑starter who can work independently and collaboratively. Technical & Soft Skills Financial market and instrument knowledge. Property valuation methods (cap‑rate, NOI, IRR). Risk assessment and attribution analysis. Data management and quality assurance. Process improvement and data‑driven decision support. We encourage applicants of all backgrounds.
