Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend and will require traveling to Leeward CC’s Waianae Moku campus, the University of Hawaii at West-Oahu (UHWO), and other UH campuses and sites. Responsibilities Under general supervision, support the mission of the campus\’ Mental Health & Wellness Program in providing the highest quality, accessible, and culturally competent mental health services & wellness services to enhance students\' social-emotional well-being and success in achieving both academic and life goals. Support and participate in the overall activities, initiatives and administrative work of the Mental Health team. Participate in carrying out the AANAPISI grant. Help to deliver grant activities; help to ensure the meeting of grant objectives and goals; participate in evaluation and improvement activities as they relate to the grant and/or the unit’s service delivery; and participate in any data collection and/or data reporting activities as needed. Provide scheduled, direct face-to-face or online specialized, short-term, focused, goal-oriented psychotherapeutic services to students, in individual or group settings, who have a wide range of psychiatric and psychosocial behavioral problems. Implement appropriate techniques to assist students to support individualized goals and outcomes, i.e., reducing distress and increasing coping skills which enhance academic performance, and build self-efficacy and support in their natural environment. Perform intakes as needed. Participate in the matching of clients with mental health providers and in the distribution of caseloads across the entire mental health team. Perform mental-health related crisis intervention as needed. Document clinical interventions and maintain program forms, clinical charts, treatments notes, program evaluation, and data collection, etc. as required by the program and/or their licensed profession and in a timely fashion. Participate in the recruitment, selection, orientation and supervision of graduate-level interns. Assist in the administration of the team’s internship program as needed and requested. Participate in the development and delivery of mental health outreach and psychoeducation efforts via various methods and/or vehicles. Participate in the development, implementation and/or maintenance of a campus-wide, mental health strategic plan as needed. Serve on the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) acting as the mental health subject matter expert for individual cases as needed. Provides clinical consultation and technical assistance to other staff and employees regarding the specialized needs of students; and identifying and implementing improved methods, policies, procedures, standards, and interventions including problem solving for difficult and complex cases. Train, oversee and/or supervise student workers and/or peer mentors as appropriate and needed. Work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team with program staff, administration, instructors, and other colleagues. Practice with a commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice, as well as personal and professional integrity. Maintain a State of Hawaii license for their appropriate profession and act in a manner consistent with the code of ethics of their licensed profession and State of Hawaii statutes. Work periodically on neighbor-island campuses; and on nights, weekends, and/or holidays. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a master\'s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field; and three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities as a Clinical Social Worker, Mental Health Counselor; Marriage and Family Therapist or Psychologist; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated. Current State of Hawaii license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Mental Health Counselor or Marriage and Family Therapy. Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques in the area of professional Mental Health counseling as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles, and methodologies. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and theories and systems associated with mental health counseling. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide-ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative, and timely manner. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally, and by preparation of reports and other materials. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing software, spreadsheets, Adobe Acrobat, and other commonly used software. Demonstrated understanding of issues related to Native Hawaiians or other indigenous populations. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and use sound logic and judgment when applying administrative policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to produce work that is detail-oriented, accurate, neat, and organized and must be able to follow up on assigned tasks through satisfactory completion. Ability to work outside of normal working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Ability to travel to neighbor-island campuses during the work week, as needed. Desirable Qualifications Three years of experience as a licensed professional in the field of Psychology, Mental Health, Clinical Social Work, or Marriage & Family Therapy. Demonstrated ability to intervene in crisis situations using sound professional judgment, and ethical practice. Ability to work successfully in an environment with a wide range of personalities and needs, while maintaining a positive attitude. Familiarity and experience with UH policies and procedures. Display strong organizational skills for handling cases.
