Primary Care Mental Health Nurse

Overview This permanent post has arisen as a result of Primary Care Modernisation and directly from the actions outlined in the Mental Health Strategy ). The role covers Wester Ross, Skye and Lochalsh and is aligned to the GP Cluster Areas there. Key Responsibilities Work within the Primary Care Mental Health Service, partnering with GP, Primary Care colleagues, 3rd sector and CMHT teams. Provide and supervise assessment, risk management and the delivery of psychological interventions for individuals with mild to moderate mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and adjustment disorder. Use a strength‑based, recovery‑focused approach that involves the patient as a partner in treatment planning. Undertake duties without direct supervision and support and supervise the work of others. Promote partnership working with patients, carers and other professionals/agencies in line with legislative frameworks, agreed standards and clinical policies. Provide sessional input to GP practices within NHS Highland (North), including virtual sessions where required. Demonstrate high standards of patient‑centred care and interventions, demonstrating excellent clinical skills, leadership, facilitated learning and service improvement skills. Qualifications & Experience Relevant post‑registration qualification (BA, BSc, Diploma in Mental Health Nursing) or formal degree‑level qualification in a related subject. Evidence of experience delivering psychological therapies. Registration with an appropriate professional body. Valid driving licence and access to own vehicle.
