Job Overview Accountant (Mandarin Speaking) – Reference: JHB. Seeking a qualified candidate to maintain accurate financial records and provide financial analysis, oversight, and compliance with South African regulations and IFRS for Fourways, Johannesburg. Employment type: Permanent, On-site. Duties and Responsibilities Financial Records Maintenance: Keep accurate records of all financial transactions in compliance with South African financial regulations and IFRS. Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the creation and management of budgets, forecasts, and business plans. Tax Compliance: Calculate and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with South African tax laws (e.g., income tax, VAT, payroll tax). Provide tax planning advice to reduce tax liabilities. Audit Assistance: Facilitate and support internal and external audit processes, ensuring all financial practices comply with statutory and corporate policies. Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, financial risks, and opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements. Cash Management: Manage cash flow to ensure optimal liquidity for operational needs. Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with financial laws and regulations; implement and monitor financial controls. Stakeholder Communication: Communicate financial information and advice to management, shareholders, and other stakeholders. Continuous Improvement: Continuously improve financial processes and systems to increase efficiency and accuracy. Qualifications and Skills Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Postgraduate qualification or certification (CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA) highly advantageous. Proven working experience as an accountant or in a relevant financial role. Strong understanding of GAAP and IFRS. Experience with financial software and advanced MS Excel skills. Knowledge of South African tax laws and compliance requirements. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills. Ability to communicate complex financial information in a clear manner. Work Environment and Other Considerations Accountants in South Africa can expect a fast-paced environment, particularly during financial year-end or tax season. Depending on the industry, travel may be required. Ongoing professional development is often encouraged and sometimes sponsored by employers to stay abreast of changes in financial regulations and best practices.
