Frontend Developer

Overview As an experienced Front-end Developer, you'll be working with React (Hooks, Context API, component lifecycle), Typescript, JavaScript, and SASS/LESS to provide best-in-class cinema websites worldwide. You will work in a modern Agile environment, advocating for team quality and productivity through peer programming, code reviews, and your own development. You will be an advocate for technologies and tools, own larger features and projects, and collaborate with stakeholders such as Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Engineering Managers. Responsibilities Develop user interfaces and user experiences using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Implement responsive web design to ensure optimal user experience across devices Work with front-end frameworks and libraries, including React, JavaScript, HTML, TypeScript, SCSS/CSS and ES6 Vanilla JavaScript Ensure cross-browser compatibility and address performance issues Write and maintain automated tests to ensure code quality Debug and troubleshoot issues related to the front-end application Collaborate with designers, product managers, and other developers Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, providing updates on progress and addressing concerns Requirements Proven strong intermediate or senior level front-end development experience, ideally in a commercial and/or ecommerce organisation Strong experience with React (Hooks, Context API, component lifecycle), TypeScript, JavaScript, SCSS/CSS, Tailwind Advanced web development including AJAX, SPA, SEO, cross-browser, various JS frameworks, REST API design/integration, CSS with pre-processing such as LESS, SASS Advanced knowledge of responsive and mobile-first design principles Experience with Umbraco CMS would be an added benefit Excellent communication, organizational, or mentoring skills Experience working within an Agile SDLC Experience with Windows Server / IIS would be beneficial Hybrid Work This is a hybrid role with a home and office-based split, requiring regular weekly attendance in the Cape Town office.
