Job Overview Registered Veterinary Nurse (AHT) in Cape Town, Bellville, Western Cape. Locations: The Animal Hospital & Vetshop (TAH Bellville) and Blue Cross Veterinary Hospital. Job Description TAH Bellville forms part of TAH (The Animal Hospital & Vetshop) and is looking for an AHT to join their fab team. TAH is a growing and employee‑centred network of vet practices committed to building motivated teams who create happy clients and healthy pets. The AHT role is critical for supporting our vets, nurses, and health technicians when working with patients and for maintaining the clean, stress‑free environment required for our patients' comfort and general well‑being. Responsibilities Provide treatment and care to animals: Support in‑patient care. Maintain hygiene, care, and facility standards: Clean facilities. Support training of staff. Support veterinary procedures according to TAH protocols and SAVC code of conduct. Assist veterinarians in providing high‑quality care to small animals. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians. Perform laboratory tests, diagnostic procedures, and imaging techniques. Monitor patients during surgeries and recovery. Educate pet owners on proper animal care and medication administration. Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Assist veterinary surgeons with operations and monitor anesthesia. Assist with placing medical orders. Requirements and Skills Registered with the SA Veterinary Council as an AHT. CPD points are to be maintained as required by SAVC. New grads are welcome to apply. Diploma or Degree in Veterinary Nursing. SAVC Registration. Updated CPD points. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. Relationship building abilities and a love for animals. Sales skills will be an advantage. Valid driver’s licence.
