Direct message the job poster from Mr Price Group The Mr Price Group Payroll Manager is responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll function for the Mr Price Group ensuring data integrity within HR systems and maintaining compliance with company policies and legal regulations. Payroll Governance and Delivery Oversee end-to-end payroll processing across multiple systems (e.g., Oracle, Sage), ensuring accurate calculation of compensation, payroll accounting, tax filings, benefits administration, and compliance with statutory requirements including SARS and UIF. Ensure timely and accurate payments to third-party providers, maintain reconciliation against statements, and implement risk controls to uphold payroll accuracy and regulatory compliance across the Group. Compliance and Reporting, Payroll Audits & Internal Controls Lead quarterly and annual reporting, ensure accurate employee tax filings, and oversee internal and external audits to maintain full compliance with country-specific regulations and company policies. Uphold governance and data integrity of payroll systems through rigorous quality assurance, including validation of leave records, organisational structure update, and workforce data audits. Support internal audit processes and payroll compliance reviews; collaborate with external auditors to uphold company policies and regulatory standards. Process Improvement Recommend and implement enhancements to payroll systems, processes, and policies—driving digitisation, automation, and operational efficiency in close collaboration with Group Technology and Finance teams. Lead, mentor, and develop your payroll team by managing workflows, resolving payroll-related queries, and enhancing team capabilities to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. Collaborate with HR and Finance Teams Partner with HR on payroll-related matters (including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and employee benefits) and the Finance Department to ensure accurate allocation of payroll costs. What are the requirements? A completed relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent diploma preferably with an emphasis in Finance or HR 7+ years of relevant payroll management experience (preferably large complex payroll) Intermediate to advanced proficiency on Excel Technical Payroll skills and experience, you are proficient creating components on existing payroll systems, configuring formulas and tax & related statutory deductions correctly aligned to specific country legislature. You have experience manually calculating taxes and other statutory deductions outside the payroll system applying the tax tables for African countries. You have an understanding and experience with Payroll processing Payroll team leadership experience Demonstrates strong numerical aptitude and analytical thinking.
