Cox is a world leader in both technological and installed capacity in solar thermal technology. Cox South Africa is looking for a Control & Instrumentation Technician based in Upington. Responsibilities Take ownership of plant instrumentation equipment and strive to reduce equipment downtime. Maintenance of PLC & SCADA on site. Extend the PLC/SCADA footprint where opportunities present themselves. Operate electronic instrumentation and related electromechanical or electrohydraulic apparatus used for operational and environmental testing of mechanical structural or electrical equipment, and translate test data for engineering staff. Perform preventative and corrective work orders for CCTV and Access System. Perform preventative and corrective work orders for Ethernet and Communications system. Select, install, calibrate and check sensing, telemetering and recording instrumentation and circuitry. Execute day‑to‑day maintenance activities according to SAP‑PM and priority set by the E&I Supervisor. Fault find low voltage systems and troubleshoot to determine failure causes and rectify defects found. Assist the E&I Supervisor in preparing and scheduling daily jobs and shutdown planning. Clean instrumentation equipment. Ensure that procedures and risk assessments are adhered to and that job permits are applied. Adhere to safety standards and comply with the Code of practice applicable on site. Requirements Relevant trade test as a C&I Technician, plus N6 or NQF Level 5. At least 5 years experience in instrumentation maintenance of large power generation or continuous process plants. Efficient use of SAP‑PM. Proficient with PC software.
