Control & Instrumentation Technician
based in
Upington
.

Functions of the job:

  • To take ownership of plant Instrumentation equipment and strive to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Maintenance of PLC & SCADA on site.
  • Extend the PLC/SCADA footprint where opportunities present them selves.
  • Operates electronic instrumentation and related electromechanical or electrohydraulic apparatus used for operational and environmental testing of mechanical structural or electrical equipment and translates test data for engineering staff.
  • CCTV and Access System Preventative and Corrective W.O.
  • Ethernet and Comms system Preventative and Corrective W.O.
  • Selects, installs, calibrate and checks sensing, telemetering and recording instrumentation and circuity.
  • Execute day to day maintenance activities according to SAP-PM's and priority set by E&I Supervisor.
  • Fault finding on low voltage systems.
  • Perform troubleshooting activities as necessary to determine failure causes and rectify defects found.
  • Assists E&I Supervisor in preparing and scheduling daily jobs and shutdown planning.
  • Cleaning of instrumentation equipment.
  • Ensure that procedures and risk assessment is adhered to and applying of the job permits is done.
  • Adherence to Safety standards and compliance to Code of practice applicable on site.

Requirements
:

  • Relevant trade test as a C & I Technician, plus N6 or NQF Level 5
  • At least 5years experience in Instrumentation maintenance of large power generation or continuous process plants
  • Efficient use of SAP-PM
  • Proficient with PC software
  • Must have a valid driver's licence
