Job summary All applicants are required to pass BKSB (Maths and English Functional Skills) test. About the role Healthcare assistants are a vital part of the team that supports the staff and patients in wards and departments throughout the hospital. Working under the direction of qualified nursing/midwifery staff, healthcare assistants carry out a wide range of duties to care for, support, and provide information to patients and their families. The role can be very varied depending on the area in which the person is employed and includes a range of housekeeping duties, basic medical checks (temperature, pulse and respiration rate), and social stimulation for patients. Person Specification – Experience Previous patient care experience Person Specification – Education and Qualifications Care Certificate or willingness to undertake the Care Certificate as part of the probationary process Functional skills minimum Level 1 Maths and English as assessed via BKSB (Basic and Key Skills Builder Aptitude) Test or GCSE equivalent. Level 2 Health Care qualification or willingness to undertake Care Certificate and a Level 2 Health Care qualification/apprenticeship Additional Requirements Acute experience and possession of maths and English level 2 Mathematics and English test on the day of interview Development pathway to a Band 3 Senior Health Care Support Worker role if relevant courses and competencies are met Working Pattern Full‑time with a flexible shift pattern, including long shifts, early shift, late shift, nights, weekends and bank holidays. Location Cross site – Fulham and Isleworth, SW10 9NH. Salary and Benefits £24,465 to £26,598 per annum plus HCAS. Contract Permanent. Employer Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
