Job Description The Banking Specialist in Private Banking is a dedicated expert in financial products and services, focused on delivering customized solutions to ultra‑and high‑net‑worth clients. The role involves direct client engagement to understand and meet their unique financial goals. Success depends on managing multiple complex processes and building trusted, long‑term relationships through meaningful client connections. Key Responsibilities Provide in‑depth knowledge in specific banking products (lending, deposits, cash management) and develop customized banking solutions for complex and simple client needs. Stay current on regulatory changes affecting banking, lending, insurance, and investment products. Ensure a deep and thorough understanding of the FirstRand Group’s overall capability to optimally service clients across various FNB Business, RMB, Ashburton franchises. Serve as the technical expert for sophisticated banking arrangements. Structure sophisticated credit facilities (unsecured loans, lines of credit) and arrange specialized mortgages for luxury properties or complex ownership structures. Create custom deposit solutions with preferential rates and implement cash management strategies for non‑trading entities. Facilitate foreign currency transactions and international banking needs. Provide short‑term insurance solutions (Gap, Education, Home, Contents, Car) as applicable. Work alongside other specialists during client meetings, explaining technical aspects of banking solutions to clients. Help resolve complex banking issues or service concerns and provide quick responses to time‑sensitive client banking requests. Qualifications FSCA recognised Degree – NQF Level 7 (or equivalent). RE5. 10 years overall experience in the Financial Services Industry, including 5 years as a Private Banker or Private Advisor dealing with wealthy HNW clients. Deep understanding of banking products, services, and regulations including credit analysis and underwriting standards. Familiarity with cash flow optimisation strategies and international banking considerations. Knowledge of SDA, FDA, FIA and specialist application to SARB / SARS for clearance applications. Understanding of the Wealth Management philosophy and the bank’s insurance capability across short and long‑term products. Ability to analyse complex financial situations and structure creative banking solutions. Understanding of risk management principles and critical thinking to solve unusual client challenges. Collaborative abilities: working seamlessly with relationship team, coordinating with operations and compliance, building rapport quickly with sophisticated clients, and networking with external partners to grow the bank client base. Additional Requirements Under the National Credit Act (NCA) candidates applying for this role will require a credit record check.
