The Role The Business Development Executive for hotel acquisitions in Africa is responsible for spearheading new property acquisition efforts across the region. This role involves market research, networking, and presenting Valor as the preferred hotel management partner for property owners. Collaborating with finance, commercial, and marketing teams, the Executive will develop proposals and manage bids to secure new hotel management agreements while ensuring compliance with brand and operational standards.
Whats in a Days Work? Customer-Related Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy for the African region.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with property owners, investors, and key market stakeholders.
  • Deliver accurate and timely market intelligence reports to identify opportunities for hotel acquisitions.
Process-Related Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create compelling hotel management and asset management proposals.
  • Ensure all proposals and bids are accurate, timely, and aligned with Valors brand standards.
  • Oversee the development of high-quality marketing materials, both digital and physical, to support acquisition efforts.
Finance-Related Responsibilities
  • Manage the cost of new business acquisition, ensuring adherence to budgets while achieving optimal results.
  • Monitor and report on key financial metrics such as conversion rates, annual revenue growth, and room availability growth.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Manager to evaluate hotel performance and inform competitive pricing strategies.
Quality and Compliance Responsibilities
  • Coordinate property improvement plans to ensure new acquisitions meet Valor and brand standards.
  • Implement processes and systems to protect sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and security measures.
People-Related Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with Valor executives, brand partners, and local teams.
  • Support the selection and training of business development staff to foster a high-performing team.
  • Promote a collaborative and engaging work environment, encouraging team development and innovation.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Customer: Accuracy and completeness of market intelligence and strategy development.
  • Process: Timeliness and quality of proposals, marketing materials, and reports.
  • Finance: Conversion rates for new business opportunities, revenue growth, and cost efficiency.
  • People: Strength of internal and external relationships and employee engagement.
Requirements: Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Hospitality Management, Business Development, Sales & Marketing, or a related field.
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in sales and marketing or business development within the hotel sector acquiring hotel management contracts. (Must understand hotel operations for contract negotiations)
  • Proven track record in a hotel management company, with specific experience in acquisitions or similar functions.
Skills
  • Strong organizational and strategic planning abilities.
  • Expertise in market research, financial modeling, and proposal development.
  • Proficiency in yield management, pricing strategies, and sales presentations.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management tools.
