We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as the HR & Talent Acquisition Specialist . Role Overview The HR & Talent Acquisition Specialist plays a key role in attracting, developing, and supporting Solar MD’s most valuable asset, its people. This position manages the full recruitment cycle to ensure the company attracts and retains high‑performing employees aligned with our values, culture, and business goals. In addition to driving effective talent acquisition processes, the role provides critical support in HR operations, employee engagement, and retention initiatives, contributing to a positive, compliant, and high‑performance workplace. Key Responsibilities Recruitment Manage end‑to‑end recruitment for all roles, including advertising, sourcing, screening, interviewing, reference checks, offer negotiation, and onboarding. Prepare job advertisements. Develop proactive talent pipelines for critical and scarce skills. Partner with hiring managers to understand workforce needs and develop effective sourcing strategies. Ensure all recruitment documentation is completed accurately and filed appropriately. Conduct competency‑based interviews and provide hiring recommendations based on skill, culture fit, and potential. Assist with performance reviews, training coordination, and culture events. Prepare and maintain recruitment reports for new hirings (e.g., time‑to‑fill, cost‑per‑hire, pipeline status, diversity data). Ensure recruitment activities align with company policies, labour regulations, and POPIA compliance. Coordinate onboarding processes to ensure a smooth transition for new employees. Employer Branding Promote Solar MD as an employer of choice through professional engagement with candidates and stakeholders. Support the communication of company values, culture, and employee value proposition across recruitment platforms. Employee Engagement & Workforce Planning Maintain a database of prospective candidates for current and future roles. Partner with hiring managers to understand role requirements and succession needs. Collaborate on retention and recognition programmes that enhance the employee experience. Support retention, engagement, wellbeing and culture‑building initiatives. Monitor industry trends, pay scales, and skills markets relevant to renewable energy and manufacturing. Gather employee feedback and contribute ideas for continuous improvement of HR processes and workplace culture. HR Operations Administration & Reporting Provide day‑to‑day HR support, including employee record management, contract preparation, and HR documentation, while ensuring compliance and effective document control across company policies, and health & safety requirements. Support payroll preparation by ensuring accurate employee data and documentation. Assist with internal communications, team meetings, and company events. Assist with onboarding, induction, and probation tracking. Cross‑Function support and collaboration. Identify opportunities to improve processes and employee experience. Oversee the coordination of training logistics and maintain accurate documentation and records. Provide administrative support for HR projects, audits, and events. Qualifications & Experience Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or related field (required). 3–4 years of experience in Recruitment or Talent Acquisition (internal or agency). Experience in employee engagement, retention initiatives, and culture‑building activities. Solid understanding of HR practices, labour legislation, and recruitment best practices. Exposure to HR administration, onboarding, and employee engagement initiatives. Strong coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities effectively. Experience in technical, engineering, IT, or manufacturing recruitment (advantageous). Strong interviewing, evaluation, and candidate assessment skills. Ability to source candidates using multiple recruitment platforms and networking. Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship‑building ability across all levels of the organisation. Highly organised with strong attention to detail and time management. Proficient in HRIS and recruitment platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Job Boards, etc.). Ability to prioritise and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast‑paced and evolving environment. Discreet, professional, and committed to confidentiality.
