HR Support Intern

Type: Internship (Part-time: 3 days per week / 24 hours per week) or Full-time (40 hours per week)

Duration: 12 months

Stipend: R5,000 (Part-time) / R8,300 (Full-time) — Travel and lunch expenses covered

Overview

Altwork Global is seeking a motivated HR Support Intern to assist with human resources administration and coordination across our group of companies,

This internship offers both part-time and full-time options, making it ideal for individuals currently studying or recent graduates eager to gain practical HR experience in a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will support recruitment, onboarding, payroll administration, staff engagement, and compliance tasks while working closely with the HR Generalist and department managers.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Draft and post job descriptions across multiple job portals.
  • Support candidate shortlisting, interview scheduling, and correspondence.
  • Assist in preparing offer letters, contracts, and reference checks.
  • Coordinate onboarding logistics and maintain accurate employee records.

HR Administration

  • Maintain digital and physical personnel files.
  • Compile and verify payroll data and attendance tracking.
  • Support compliance with HR policies and South African labour regulations.
  • Manage and update leave and absence records.

Employee Engagement & Development

  • Schedule and record performance reviews and training sessions.
  • Assist in maintaining the company CPD register and learning schedules.
  • Support team-building events and HR-led engagement initiatives.

General Support

  • Provide administrative assistance to the HR team and management.
  • Prepare HR reports, documentation, and assist in internal audits.
  • Contribute to ongoing process improvement projects.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a qualification in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace tools.
  • Discreet and professional in handling confidential information.
  • Proactive, eager to learn, and passionate about people operations.
