Job Title Senior Lecturer / Lecturer Location Johannesburg, South Africa Department Southern Centre for Inequality Studies, Wits University (School of Construction Economics and Management) Overview The School of Construction Economics and Management is one of the 33 Schools within Wits University and one of seven within the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment. It offers undergraduate programmes in Construction Studies and Property Studies, postgraduate programmes at Honours, PG Diploma, Masters and PhD levels across Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Property Development and Management, Real Estate, and Facilities Management. Executive education programmes are also available. The School is accredited by SACQSP, SACPCMP, SACPVP, RICS, CIOB and IREM and prides itself on high research output and impactful education. Supervise industry and postgraduate research in cross‑disciplinary settings. Apply reflective practice to pursue scholarship of teaching and learning. Conduct research of national and international significance and publish consistently in leading international journals. Write research grant proposals and secure external funding. Design and implement new programmes and manage existing programmes. Participate in academic administration, including committees at the School and Faculty level. Mentor colleagues and students. Develop and sustain relationships with students, alumni and industry stakeholders. Contribute to the School’s strategic vision, particularly in skills development, professionalism and transformation of the professions. Represent the School on multiple platforms, reinforcing its brand. Qualifications & Experience Lecturer Rank Holder of a Master’s degree in a built‑environment or business‑management discipline (PhD preferred). Evidence of teaching, course development and academic administration. Evidence of postgraduate supervision and research publication. Registered member of professional bodies such as RICS, CIOB, SACPCMP, or SACQSP (preferred). NRF rating is an advantage. Senior Lecturer Rank Holder of a PhD in a built‑environment or business‑management discipline. Experience lecturing in fields such as Project Management and Property Studies/Real Estate. Experience in curriculum and course design and assessment. Demonstrated ability to conduct and supervise industry and student‑related research at Masters and Doctoral levels. Registered member of professional bodies such as RICS, CIOB, SACPCMP, or SACQSP (preferred). Academic leadership and mentorship capability. Track record of publication locally and internationally. NRF rating is an advantage. Demonstrated ability to generate external research income.
