Business Intelligence Analyst

Overview The BI Visualisation Analyst will form part of the BI Team reporting to the BI Team Leader (based in Cape Town). The purpose of the role is to develop, maintain and support the BI and analytics initiatives of the firm and provide support with requests for information and data analysis. Responsibilities Define business requirements for BI solutions. Design and develop custom dashboard solutions, as well as re‑usable data visualization templates. Maintain existing dashboards. Prepare dashboards, presentations and executive summaries to clearly present findings. Perform audits and other quality control functions on data sets to ensure integrity of data used for analysis. Troubleshoot system issues. Provide training to practitioners and business services on dashboard solutions. Conduct advanced analytics on client, financial, performance and other data to identify trends and opportunities. Prepare and compile reports that effectively communicate trends and patterns and provide actionable insights. Collaborate with Growing Business, HR, Accounts and other teams to help solve specific business problems using the data contained in the BI solution. Analyse data and feedback from clients and management and proactively propose improvements to processes and reporting solutions so as to enhance the analytics offering. Research data analysis trends and recommend implementation of new areas so as to enhance the analytical capabilities of the firm. All data and security policies, standards and processes and ensure required documentation is in place. Assist with system testing and conduct peer review. Provide day‑to‑day business support in line with the requirements of the department. Provide support for PED, audit and other queries. Manage aspects of scheduled updates and troubleshoot error. Assist with ad hoc tasks as and when required. This role may develop, change and encompass other tasks and projects in accordance with the dictates of the practice and what the department / team may be required to deliver to the business from time to time or on an ongoing basis. Knowledge and Skills Must be able to work well independently or in a team environment. Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability. Ability to gather and synthesise large volumes of information from varying sources. Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure in an ever‑changing environment. Ability to ensure confidentiality of all the firm's and clients' documentation and information. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work confidently and collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Results orientated with a high attention to detail. Proven team player, professional, flexible and friendly. Business acumen with thorough knowledge and understanding of business, process and technology. Self‑motivated with the ability to display initiative. Strong mathematical acumen. Qualifications and Experience Relevant Degree or similar qualification. Three years' Microsoft SQL Server experience. Three year's practical experience using BI reporting and visualisation tools (Power BI / SAS Visualisations / Tableau / SAP Business Objects). Experience using ETL tools will be advantageous. Three years practical experience implementing visualisation / data analysis projects. Strong analytical skills with experience in data modelling, visualisation, and data‑driven decision‑making.
