Director: Key Account Manager (Technology) – SSA Commercial – DP World City of Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa Overview This role will build and maintain strong, consistent and professional relationships with clients (new and existing), bring in strong industry expertise, and help them pivot to new ways of working. It is responsible for the identification, development, conversion, maintenance and management of growth opportunities. Key Responsibilities Vertical & sub‑vertical strategy formulation: develop and implement the regional vertical and sub‑vertical strategy aligned to the Technology global vertical strategy and SSA regional strategy; understand client needs, processes, challenges and requirements through client engagements; develop and implement logistics and supply chain strategies that align with business objectives and meet the unique needs of the vertical. End‑to‑end solutions: requisition information from clients (pro‑active selling); analyze logistics data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for optimization and cost reduction; conduct client supply chain and logistics audits and implement corrective actions for continuous improvement; work with solution engineering to develop vertical solutions; infuse sustainability in vertical solutions. Key account management: select regional vertical accounts in collaboration with leadership; nominate a KAM and a sponsor for each key account; develop regional vertical account plans and growth plans; convert opportunities identified in the plans; execute regional quarterly business reviews; act as subject‑matter expert with the KAM team. Reporting and visibility: ensure vertical CRM governance; capture leads and manage the CRM sales funnel; pipeline reporting; reduce leakages; generate and share regional vertical reports with stakeholders. Leadership: build the company’s reputation as an industry thought leader through research and content; collaborate across teams; monitor industry trends and emerging technologies; represent the company at industry events and conferences. General: lead an engaged team, promote collaboration, ensure safety and adherence to DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies; perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications BEng Industrial, BCom Logistics (Honours), BCom Supply Chain Management (Honours) (NQF level 7 or higher) or bachelor’s degree in business analytics or mathematics. 15+ years of experience; 8‑10 years of relevant work experience in operations and/or analytics role.
