Director – Key Account Management – Chemical – DP World Location: City of Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa Position Overview Director of Key Account Management – Chemical (Sub‑Saharan Africa) responsible for cross‑selling and up‑selling DP World solutions to existing strategic clients and developing new business in line with the overall strategy. Key Responsibilities Act as the support point of contact from operations for all key client matters, anticipating client needs based on industry and global trends. Maintain and grow the existing book of business while proactively finding new chemical clients in the region. Collaborate closely with operations and commercial teams on contract renewal strategies and scope‑change opportunities (cross‑selling and up‑selling) within existing accounts. Influence and assist with operational implementation to improve client satisfaction, reduce risk and enhance profitability. Align with Global Key Accounts Management to open doors for global accounts in SSA and drive cohesion between business units. Coordinate and assist in implementing the KAM Framework for strategic chemical clients, providing direction and fostering collaboration with BD Sales and operational teams. Meet and exceed annual financial growth targets for assigned global chemical customer accounts and/or new customers, and expand the geographic and solution footprint across DP World’s service portfolio. Maintain a clear understanding of customer expectations around operational solutions, costs, and results. Keep key account plans up to date, measure and report on strategic actions, and highlight progress to stakeholders. Develop relationships with key decision makers at all levels within an account in collaboration with account owners and sponsors. Manage governance structure and communications plan by scheduling and facilitating bi‑annual and quarterly Business Reviews and monthly operational meetings. Construct account plans with operations to understand the customer’s strategic, operational and financial business and buying process. Maintain an updated pipeline of current and future opportunities, quantifying opportunity value and win probability. Generate new green‑field business by applying DP World’s end‑to‑end model in designing comprehensive solutions. Coordinate RFQs for new business opportunities and renewals of existing business, engaging other functions and owning the commercial relationship and contract negotiations. Ensure a close cooperation between Account Management, Business Development, Operations, Operational Excellence and all other functions (IT, HR, Finance, etc.). Partner with colleagues in other regions to support broader opportunities for global clients and industry verticals. Act as an ambassador for DP World in all interactions, promoting positive behaviors, safety, and adherence to DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics. Perform any other related duties as assigned. Qualifications and Experience Degree or equivalent in Supply Chain, Business Administration or Transport/Logistics. Proven track record of consistently achieving a sales quota at a relevant scale. Minimum 8 years’ experience within the transport, logistics or freight forwarding industry (or similar service industry) with a focus on Key Account Management or Sales. Experience leading and managing a team. Experience in Key Account Management and/or Sales. Experience in the chemical market/industry in SA and/or SSA. Experience within logistics. Exposure to and working knowledge of all facets of contractual requirements. Experience and Skills Required : Minimum > (as per role specifications).
