The ideal candidate will also identify competing products that can be replaced with stainless steel and coordinate product developments to ensure they align with customer and product requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Market Growth and Projects:

  • Identify new opportunities to increase stainless steel usage and sales.
  • Promote stainless steel at exhibitions, expos, and through various marketing channels.
  • Identify and partner with strategic publications for advertising.
  • Prepare articles and adverts for various publications.
  • Ensure the availability of relevant educational information on stainless steel.

Market Intelligence:

  • Conduct research and maintain marketing information on existing and new applications in the stainless-steel industry.
  • Maintain an applications database for marketing purposes.
  • Liaise within the company group for information sharing.
  • Write and submit reports to relevant stakeholders.

Liaison/Coordination:

  • Collaborate with other departments on project-related orders and product development.
  • Ensure accuracy in order loading information.
  • Work closely with the PR department on related projects.
  • Monitor all new product and project-related orders to completion.
  • Liaise with local and international associations and industry players on existing and potential projects.

Person Specifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with Math and Science.
  • Diploma/degree in a technical field/Commercial/Marketing.

Favorable Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (metallurgy, mechanical, industrial, chemical) or Commercial (B.Com, business management).
  • MDP/EDP recommended.
  • Technical experience is advantageous.

Experience:

  • At least 6 years of experience in the business, product, and commercial processes.
  • Strong customer/supplier relations through excellent communication skills and market experience.
  • Ability to negotiate and recommend accurately.
  • Understanding of process and product grades.
  • Technical report writing skills are an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
