(Hotel Experience Essential)If you are detail-oriented, analytical, and passionate about hospitality, this opportunity is for you.About the RoleThe Hotel Financial Accountant will be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance, and providing clear insights that support sound business decisions.This position requires a strong grounding in financial accounting controls and systems, together with an in-depth understanding of accounting functions within a hotel environment. (Essential)Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Receivable & Payable: Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections. Supervise creditor and debtor accounts and ensure prompt follow-up on outstanding amounts.Cash Book Management: Supervise and maintain daily cash book entries, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled with bank statements.Financial Records: Record, classify, and reconcile all financial transactions in accordance with accounting standards (IFRS for SMEs).Financial Control & Balance Sheet Integrity: Monitor and maintain the integrity of all balance sheet accounts, ensuring accurate and compliant asset and liability values.Management Accounts: Prepare and review monthly management accounts and audit all balance sheet accounts.Cost Management: Analyse financial performance against budgets and identify areas for cost saving and efficiency improvement.Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure adherence to financial regulations, manage risk assessments, and implement controls to mitigate financial risk.Financial Systems Optimization: Evaluate and implement systems and tools to improve accuracy and efficiency in reporting and management.Statutory Returns: Prepare and submit VAT, tax, and other statutory returns accurately and on time.Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.Stakeholder Liaison: Collaborate with auditors, hotel management, and external stakeholders.Team Leadership: Supervise accounting staff, provide training and guidance, and encourage professional development to ensure excellence across the finance function.Qualifications & ExperienceMatric (Grade 12)Bachelors Degree in Finance and Accounting or equivalent (Completed) will secure.Proven hotel accounting experience - minimum 3 years in a financial role within a 4- or 5-star hotelKnowledge of Opera PMS essential and criticalStrong computer literacy with advanced MS Excel skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsHigh attention to detail, accuracy, and deadline orientationWhat We OfferAt The President Hotel, we believe that great people deserve an environment that supports their growth and recognises their contribution.We offer:Competitive remuneration package aligned to experience and performanceMedical aid and pension fund contributionsAnnual performance-based bonus incentivesMeals on duty and staff discounts on dining and accommodationCareer progression within one of Cape Towns most iconic 4-star hotelsA supportive, collaborative workplace culture where excellence is recognised and rewardedWhy Join the President?Set in the heart of Bantry Bay, between Cape Towns vibrant city life and the Atlantic Ocean, The President Hotel combines 349 elegant rooms and apartments with world-class dining, inspiring views, and unmatched hospitality.Here, financial excellence fuels operational brilliance and your work will make a direct impact on the success of one of Cape Towns most respected hospitality brands.ApplicationsWe review all applications carefully.
