If you're experienced in maintaining enterprise-level systems and want to contribute to a high-availability, secure IT environment, this is the perfect opportunity to work across cloud, server, and network technologies in a fast-paced, supportive setting.About the RoleReporting to the Senior Systems Administrator, you’ll manage core IT infrastructure across LAN, WAN, VPN, and cloud systems, while optimising performance and ensuring security compliance. The role involves end-to-end responsibility for both physical and virtual servers, monitoring tools, and telephony environments. It also includes preventative maintenance, root cause analysis, and supporting a complex hybrid network across the business.Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister, monitor, and maintain network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless, firewalls)Install, configure, and optimise physical and virtual servers (Windows, Linux, VMware, Hyper-V)Support telephony infrastructure and proactively manage system alerts and uptimeLead troubleshooting for network and server issues (both on-site and remotely)Enforce patch management, backups, and preventative maintenance proceduresSecure environments through policy creation and monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds)Oversee budget controls and software licence administrationCollaborate on defining network performance and security protocolsStay current with emerging technologies and implement industry best practicesWhat You’ll Bring3+ years of experience in infrastructure maintenanceProven expertise in network administration (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls)Microsoft Azure experience and strong SQL backup knowledgeProficiency in Windows Server, Linux/Unix, and virtualisation technologiesFamiliarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, SolarWinds, Nagios)Strong scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, or Python)Excellent problem-solving and analytical skillsAbility to work independently and participate in an on-call rotationNice to HaveBSc in Computer Science or a related fieldMicrosoft, Security+, or Cisco certifications (Azure Admin, CCNA, etc.)Experience with ManageEngine toolsExposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud)Experience developing security and performance policiesWhat’s On OfferMarket-related salary based on experiencePerformance-based annual bonusSubsidised life and disability coverFuneral coverOpportunity to join a stable, well-established South African businessHybrid working possibilitiesCompany CultureWatersEdge Solutions connects highly skilled IT professionals with companies that value stability, security, and innovation.
