Head of Port Operations

Qualification and REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree in Civil/mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 18-20 years' experience in managing Port construction projects and port operations, ideally in the mining sector.
  • Certificates in port management to ensure that the incumbent is well-equipped to handle the complex demands of port construction and operations
  • Strong technical knowledge of port engineering principles, construction practices, and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations

key responsibilities
  • Coordination with Engineering Firms:
    • Collaborate with external engineering firms to ensure designs meet project specifications and standards.
    • Review and approve engineering plans and drawings.
  • Supervision of Construction:
    • Oversee the construction process to ensure it adheres to the approved designs and quality standards.
    • Conduct regular site inspections and address any issues that arise during construction.
  • Commissioning of the Port:
    • Manage the commissioning process, ensuring all systems and structures are operational and meet safety and performance criteria.
    • Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition from construction to operational status.
  • Operations Management Post-Commissioning:
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the port once it is commissioned.
    • Implement and monitor operational procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance with company requirements.
  • Budget and Schedule Management:
    • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring all activities are completed within financial constraints.
    • Create and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of all phases of the project.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure all construction and operational activities comply with relevant regulations and safety standards.
    • Implement safety protocols and conduct regular safety audits.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare and present regular progress reports to the Director/CEO.
    • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design changes, construction progress, and commissioning records
